As soon as she spotted Fernanda, she eagerly waved her over with a bright smile.
“I can’t believe we’re finally in the same class!” Sloane exclaimed, letting out a contented sigh. “Classes without you and everyone else just aren’t the same.”
Sloane was a freshman, while Neal and the others were sophomores, so their schedules didn’t overlap. Although Fernanda was technically a freshman too, her entrance exam had placed her in a different category from the usual first-year students.
Fernanda was only required to attend classes for two years, which meant many of her courses were different from Sloane’s. As a result, their schedules rarely lined up.
Today’s class focused on data analysis. Just as Fernanda pulled out her textbook, Sloane dropped her phone in front of her, clearly annoyed. “Fernanda, you’ve got to see this! This news is driving me insane!” Sloane grumbled.
Fernanda briefly glanced at the screen and noticed a notice from the public relations department of Bloom Group.
It was about Hertha.
The notice detailed that Bloom Group had carried out an internal investigation and found that Hertha had rigged her votes in the recent beauty pageant. However, it was revealed that her agent was responsible, not Hertha herself. In response, the company fired Hertha’s agent and replaced her assistant to resolve the issue and offer a clear explanation to the public.
“This is such a ridiculous excuse!” Sloane grumbled. “It’s so obvious they’re just trying to protect Hertha. They’re making up this fancy story just to keep her in the spotlight.”
Fernanda took a moment to think it over.
A few years ago, Bloom Group’s entertainment division adopted an idol training model and created a group. Hertha had quickly risen to be the most popular member.
The company had poured enormous amounts of time, money, and resources into boosting Hertha’s fame. As such, they had no intention of letting her go anytime soon.

“That’s just how things work in business,” Fernanda explained to Sloane, trying to calm her down. “Hertha is one of their top artists, so they won’t just let her go. It’s fine. She has already faced consequences for what happened, and that’s where it ends.”
Fernanda understood how the entertainment industry operated and was aware of the public’s tendency to forgive. A small scandal like Hertha’s wouldn’t harm her career—it was just a blip on the radar. As expected, once Bloom Group made their statement, Hertha’s fans flooded the comment sections.
“That agent was awful! I always knew she was unprofessional. Hertha really got the short end of the stick here.”
