Chapter 500
Chapter 500:
“Nobody’s driving home tonight,” Curran declared to some members of the Reed family. “I’ve got rooms ready for all of you to crash.” He turned to Fernanda. “And you, my dear…”
“I’m fine, really. I’ll take a car back later,” Fernanda interrupted. “I barely touched my drink, so no worries.”
Curran studied her for a moment, reassured by her sober state, and nodded with relief. “Great, make sure to drop by again soon.” Lowering his voice, he added, “Got some grub lined up for you too.” Fernanda gave a soft nod in acknowledgment.
Curran, feeling weary, rose to his feet. “Alright, I’m beat. I’ll let you young folks carry on. Have fun.”
He departed with Marc’s assistance, limping slightly, leaving under the watchful eyes of the guests.
With the host gone, the rest of the guests saw no reason to linger and began to disperse.
Robert was visibly elated, his cheeks flushed from the alcohol. He strolled over to Fernanda, beaming with pride, and gave her a cheerful slap on the back. “Fernanda, spot on! You’ve really done your old man proud!”
Once, the Morgans would never have dreamed of being invited to a Reed affair. But today, not only were they present, but Robert practically glowed, basking in the attention that had once eluded him.
He knew it was all thanks to Fernanda. Her engagement to Bobby and Curran’s nod had elevated her status significantly. As her father, he naturally reaped the benefits of his daughter’s success.
“Let’s go! We’re heading home!” Robert slurred slightly from the alcohol. “Haha, I’m so happy!”
Fernanda cast a glance at Cristian, who remained in his spot, unmoved. Jordyn had already approached him, bending down to chat.
Jordyn’s figure mostly obscured Cristian from view, making it hard for Fernanda to gauge his expression. Yet, his posture was rigid, hinting at tension. A peculiar urge struck Fernanda. She felt compelled to walk over and gently pat his shoulder, encouraging him to relax.

Clearly, today had taken a toll on him. Since his arrival, Curran had pointedly singled him out, not with words, but by erasing his presence, as if the Reed family had never known someone like him.
Marc, too, had poked the bear, eager to watch Cristian stumble. The rest of the Reed clan stayed silent, except for Bobby, who came to Cristian’s defense.
“Fernanda?” Robert’s voice pulled her attention back. “What are you staring at? Let’s hit the road. Drop by another day if you like. Curran is quite fond of you; you should visit more often.”
Fernanda shifted her gaze away, disregarding Robert, and strode towards the door.
