Chapter 501:

Given her current standing, Fernanda knew better than to voice anything to Cristian—it would only stir up more drama. Still, her heart was heavy. She couldn’t help but feel that someone as decent as Cristian deserved better.

The Morgans were all smiles today, with Amber and Crowell noticeably more cheerful than when they had arrived. They had come in a business van, an eight-seater that was already snug with just them. There was clearly too little space to accommodate Fernanda in the van.

Just then, Bobby came over, grinning. “Fernanda, I brought you here; let me take you back too.”

Before Fernanda could reply, Robert chimed in quickly, “Fantastic, I’ll leave her with you, Bobby.”

He was keen on Fernanda spending more time with Bobby to strengthen their connection.

Bobby nodded to Robert and escorted Fernanda away. One by one, luxury cars pulled away, their headlights slicing through the night’s darkness, lighting up the pristine road.

“I had a few drinks myself today, so let’s have the driver take us,” Bobby said, swinging open the back door. “You sit here, Fernanda. I’ll hop in front.”

Fernanda ducked into the car. As she buckled her seatbelt, the driver started the engine, waiting for the line of cars ahead to inch forward. Suddenly, there was a tap on the window.

Bobby rolled it down, and Cristian’s deep, icy voice filled the air. “Open the door.”

Without hesitation, Bobby hit the central lock. Cristian pulled open the back door and slid in. His entrance ushered in the biting winter wind, mingling with the tang of alcohol on him, creating a chilling vibe.

Once settled, he didn’t look at Fernanda but leaned back, closing his eyes.

“Cristian, you’ve had quite a bit to drink. You okay?” Bobby asked, turning around.

“I’m fine,” Cristian rasped.

As the car rolled away, Bobby told the driver, “Take it slow.”

Outside, the lights danced by, casting shadows across Cristian’s face through the window. His chiseled profile flickered between light and shadow, deepening his brooding presence.

“Cristian, let me drop you off first,” Bobby offered again.

Cristian murmured a noncommittal “Hmm.”

The ride proceeded in silence. The car’s warmth gradually chased away the chill, and the lingering scent of alcohol was slowly replaced by a soothing fragrance, subtly intoxicating.

Suddenly, Cristian tilted his head slightly and opened his eyes. In a swift glance, his eyes met Fernanda’s, holding her gaze.

It was only then that Fernanda realized she had been watching him the whole ride without even noticing.
