Chapter 502
Chapter 502:
In the dim light of the car, she felt a hand reach for hers from behind. The car was cozy, yet Cristian’s palm was still cool, brushing gently over the back of her hand as if cherishing the warmth.
His fingers laced with hers, turning her hand over, their fingers weaving together.
Fernanda looked at him anew. He seemed like a lost traveler finally finding his way, the darkness in his eyes slowly giving way to a faint smile.
The car halted beneath Cristian’s apartment building.
“Cristian, we’re here,” Bobby noted.
Cristian acknowledged with a soft “Hmm,” then added, “You guys go ahead.”
Yet he made no move to exit.
A couple of minutes later, Bobby realized something. “Are you telling me to leave the car?”
“I don’t feel like heading up just yet. I’ll hang out here for a bit. You and your driver take a cab back. I’ll cover it,” Cristian said, his eyes still closed.
Bobby rolled his eyes. Would he really fuss over a cab fare? And the building entrance was right there. Why couldn’t Cristian just return to his apartment?
But catching sight of Cristian and Fernanda’s intertwined hands, Bobby seemed to grasp the situation.
The car was indeed a perfect spot for a little romance, but surely Cristian’s place could offer more. It provided more privacy. Perhaps the young enjoyed their thrills.
Bobby tightened his coat as he stepped out into the chilly night wind. He felt he had given up too much for Cristian’s love life.
Teeth chattering, he said to the driver, who had also stepped out, “Keep what happened tonight to yourself, understood?”
The driver, quick on the uptake, nodded vigorously.

“Come on, let’s catch a cab,” Bobby said, cinching his coat. “Where do you live? I’ll drop you off first.”
He mused that there might not be a more generous boss than himself. Even the family’s hired driver got a ride home.
The night wind ceased its howl as the car door snapped shut, enveloping the interior in a cozy bubble of warmth and peace. The streets outside glimmered brightly, streaks of light slipping through the car window to cast a serene glow over Cristian’s face. He leaned back, tilting his face toward the sky. His jawline grew sharp, his profile cutting a striking figure against the soft light.
The silence lingered heavily until he finally spoke, his voice heavy with emotion. “You saw everything today.”
A pang hit Fernanda hard, as if an invisible force had scooped out a piece of her heart, letting a wave of sadness rush in.
