Without hesitation, Henrik dashed upstairs and returned with all the documents he could gather, handing them to Cristian.

“Mr. Reed, I swear, this is everything. The rest has been destroyed.”

Cristian examined the papers and gave a curt nod.

Henrik wasted no time and fled.

Upon returning home, he urgently told his grandmother, who was still at her meal, “Grandma, we need to pack up fast. We have to move.”

Fernanda and Cristian meandered out of the apartment complex.

After strolling for a while, a mild thirst crept up on Fernanda. She slipped her hand out of Cristian’s pocket, intending to open the can of milk she carried.

But Cristian tightened his grip, not letting her hand go. Instead, he gently took the milk from her fingers with quiet determination. He opened the can with his right hand while keeping his left in his pocket, still gripping hers.

“Don’t you have anything you want to ask me?” he said calmly.

Fernanda accepted the can from him and nodded, her honesty disarming. “I do.”

Cristian’s gaze lingered on her, steady but unreadable, as if inviting her to speak.

Fernanda sipped the milk, a rare indulgence for her. The smooth, velvety texture surprised her, coaxing her into taking a few more sips. The warm milk spread through her, wrapping her in a comforting warmth.

“Who was that Sammy Henrik mentioned earlier?” she asked.

“He’s a friend of my cousin.”

“Which cousin?” Fernanda blinked. “Marc?”

“No, it’s his younger brother, Nolan.”

“Oh, I haven’t met Nolan.” Fernanda paused, thoughtful. “Does he have a problem with you too?”

Cristian gave her a faint smile. “Well, most of the Reeds have an issue with me.”

Though his tone was casual, almost indifferent, Fernanda caught a faint shadow of sadness behind his words.

The question that had gnawed at her for so long surfaced again—why did the Reed family treat him this way?

“I believe Nolan’s goal was to smear my reputation. He dislikes me, and since Bobby is close to me, that dislike extends to him as well. As you’re Bobby’s fiancée, the news was meant to hurt all of us,” Cristian explained in a measured tone. “But he underestimated how quickly we’d strike back. His studio was shut down in a hurry to cover his tracks. By the afternoon, my people located the place, but it was already empty. Henrik, however, lives nearby, so I came straight to him. Everyone has a weak spot, as you saw earlier.”

“Yes,” Fernanda nodded. “I didn’t want to use his grandmother as leverage, but without that, he probably wouldn’t have told the truth.”
