“It’s fine. It was only a threat. Compared to their deceit and schemes, our methods are already quite restrained.”

“So what’s next?” Fernanda looked at him steadily. “What will you do about Nolan?”

Cristian’s lips curled into a cold smile. The pale moonlight accentuated his expression, making it sharper and more distant.

“I’ll handle it,” he said simply. “Don’t worry.”

Since it was Cristian’s family matter, Fernanda chose not to press further, wanting to avoid adding to his burden.

A thought suddenly struck her. “When I first met you, you were injured and being chased. Were those people sent by your cousins?”

“Yes,” Cristian admitted without hesitation. “They’ve always made it their mission to make my life difficult.”

“And they even tried to kill you?” Fernanda frowned. “That’s beyond cruel.”

“That’s human nature for you. They’d love nothing more than for me to meet a terrible fate,” Cristian scoffed lightly, his disdain palpable. “But unfortunately for them, they’re not capable of it.”

After dropping Fernanda back at school, Cristian drove off.

Fernanda finished the last sips of milk, glanced at the logo on the can, and tossed it away. A sudden chill crept in with the night wind, and she pulled her coat tighter around her. She made a mental note to buy a scarf soon.

As she was about to enter the dorm building, her attention was drawn to a figure heading into Luminary University’s dorm building across the street. The streetlight illuminated the person’s profile, and something about it struck her as familiar. She hesitated for a moment before following. She believed the person was none other than Beckett.

Beckett had come looking for Bonita, his fury evident in his every step. Lately, Bonita had been dodging his calls and replying to his messages with clipped responses.

When he questioned her, she brushed it off, claiming to be busy preparing for final exams.

But Beckett wasn’t fooled. Logging into the game she’d been obsessed with lately, he saw her online every day, often well into the night. One evening, he switched to spectator mode and watched her gaming with someone for hours.

He didn’t know who the account belonged to, but his instincts screamed that it was the streamer Bonita liked so much. The streamer wasn’t live when he visited their channel. Eventually, he discovered the streamer had gamed with Bonita after searching through previous streams and watched each one individually.

Beckett became enraged. That guy and Bonita had been warned by him. He had even brought his friends to give the guy a good beating, yet the guy still hadn’t learned his lesson and was still involved with Bonita?

As Beckett approached Bonita’s building, he called her to come down. Naturally, Bonita didn’t want to see him, but she was forced to go down out of concern that he might start a commotion at her school.
