Chapter 523
Chapter 523:
While typing up the report, the officer responded, “If his issues are confirmed, he would need treatment in a psychiatric facility. But keep in mind, people with mental health problems aren’t always held fully responsible for their actions. As such, you won’t be able to get an apology or compensation for what he’s done.”
“I don’t need any apology or compensation from him!” Bonita shot back, her voice fierce. “I just want him gone—never to show his face around me again!”
Bonita’s words came through clenched teeth, her body trembling with raw anger. The fury she felt was all-consuming, a storm of hatred in every inch of her being.
The officer, visibly surprised by Bonita’s intensity, couldn’t help but steal a few extra glances at her.
Fernanda stayed close, her arm wrapped around Bonita, offering silent comfort and strength.
By the time they left the station, Bonita was on the verge of collapse, her legs barely keeping her upright as Fernanda supported her. With the injury still throbbing on her head, returning to the dorm seemed out of the question. Fernanda, unwilling to risk it, found a nearby hotel and guided Bonita inside, offering her a semblance of comfort and care.
The room was simple, with two beds side by side. Fernanda requested disinfectant supplies and ice packs from the hotel staff before turning her focus to Bonita’s injuries.
Bonita’s face bore the clear signs of abuse: a bright red, swollen slap mark stood out, but the more severe injury was on her forehead. She had slammed into the wall, and the cut, mixed with dirt and blood, looked brutally raw.
“Hold on, this might sting,” Fernanda murmured, her voice gentle yet firm.
Bonita sat still, as though drained of life, her expression blank and unreactive while Fernanda carefully applied the medicine.
After cleaning the wound, Fernanda placed a band-aid over the cut. She then reached for an ice pack, pressing it softly against Bonita’s battered face, her touch both soothing and tender.

The sharp cold of the ice pack seemed to snap Bonita out of her daze. Her unseeing eyes suddenly locked with Fernanda’s, and the worry in Fernanda’s gaze finally reached her.
A tremble passed through Bonita’s lips, and before long, tears began to streak down her face.
“About Beckett…” Fernanda asked gently, her voice hesitant. “Do you want to tell your family?”
“No!” Bonita screamed, her voice raw and desperate, making Fernanda jump.
The anger inside Bonita flared again. “Tell them? What good would it do? They… they…”
Words failed Bonita as rage consumed her, tears pouring down her face in a torrent, as if her very world were crumbling around her.
