Chapter 546
Chapter 546:
Braylee stood, and Fernanda helped Bonita to her feet. Together, they exited the room, leaving the others behind in tense silence.
Braylee guided them to the 40th floor. Outside the elevator, three sleek glass doors required card access. This ensured there was no unauthorized entry.
The suite itself was even more expansive than their previous room. Fernanda carefully led Bonita to the bedroom and helped her lie down on the bed.
“Rest for a while,” Fernanda said softly, brushing Bonita’s forehead with her fingertips. “I’ll have a word with Braylee.”
Bonita nodded slightly. “Thank her for me too.”
“I will.” Fernanda offered a reassuring smile before gently closing the bedroom door. She walked back into the living room and sat across from Braylee.
Her thoughts drifted to their first meeting in the hospital’s underground parking lot. Back then, Braylee had been cold and aloof, her gaze filled with disdain.
Seeing Fernanda staring at her, Braylee raised an eyebrow. “What are you looking at?”
“You,” Fernanda replied with a light smile. “It seems your attitude toward me has changed.”
“It has. I’ve always admired women who know how to handle themselves.”
“Really?” Fernanda replied, her smile serene. “I’m glad to hear that.”
Braylee stated plainly, her voice firm, “A few months ago, when the acquisition storm was brewing around Bright Lights Media, you displayed remarkable cunning. You prevented Bloom Group from taking over the company.”
“So you know about it,” Fernanda said.
“I was oblivious at the time, but I’m well aware now.” Braylee’s posture stiffened slightly, her gaze turning cold. “Wasn’t it just a few days ago that the news broke that Cristian had taken over Bright Lights Media? He’s the owner on paper, but you’re the true puppet master. We initially passed on acquiring Bright Lights, dismissing it as a trivial entity not even worthy of headlines. Now it seems you orchestrated the whole scenario. Despite any desperation, you chose not to seek Cristian’s aid, preferring to keep your cards close to your chest. Your tactic of a strategic retreat was indeed clever.”

Braylee, instrumental in expanding Bloom Group alongside her husband Roscoe, was far from naive. Fernanda wasn’t taken aback by her shrewdness.
“I must say, I feel fortunate,” Fernanda said with an unwavering smile. “You didn’t hold it against me once you understood the situation, and now you’re even willing to assist me. I’m truly thankful.”
“I’m not exactly here to assist you,” Braylee clarified, her tone tinged with pity. “I pity the girl, that’s all.” She cast a fleeting glance toward the bedroom, clicking her tongue subtly. “Moreover, since my father decides to show you favor, I find myself obliged to respect his decisions.”
As she spoke, Braylee eyed Fernanda thoughtfully and added, “Just don’t assume it’s because of your family connections. It’s not about your family—it’s the Harper family. You are engaged to Bobby, aren’t you?”
