Chapter 548
Chapter 548:
Rafael, noticing her, quickly stashed his phone and approached with urgency. “Braylee, what’s going on? I overheard some talk about Fernanda being here. Did you and Dad work something out for her?”
Without slowing her pace toward the hotel exit, Braylee offered little explanation, merely cautioning him. “Keep your distance and avoid causing trouble with Fernanda, got it?”
“But I haven’t even been near her lately. It’s just… I can’t stand being around her!”
“And what gives you the right to judge her? How is she inferior to you? When you were twenty, what kind of nonsense were you into?” Braylee’s eyes narrowed at Rafael. “You should forget about Ava, and it’s best to stop provoking Fernanda because of her. If you’re bored, go see the world. Maybe then you’ll realize how stupid your past self was.”
Rafael stood, dumbfounded. He had barely spoken, yet his sister had rebuked him so fiercely. The hardest part was his inability to muster a response.
As they stepped out of the hotel, the Ramirez and Perry couples were positioned outside, seemingly anxious to engage with Braylee. Unmoved, Braylee brushed past them, heading straight for her car without so much as a glance.
The four exchanged silent, awkward glances, none daring to break the silence.
Later that evening, as Fernanda was leaving the hotel, she was taken aback to find the Ramirez and Perry couples still loitering by the entrance.
“Miss Morgan, how is Bonita doing?” Myron eagerly approached, breaking the silence.
Bonita had confided in Fernanda that the bruises on her face were caused by her own father. A man capable of such cruelty toward his child disgusted Fernanda.
“She’s barely managing after what you’ve done to her,” Fernanda responded dryly.
Myron’s face twisted into an uncomfortable grimace as he stumbled over his words. “I just lost my composure earlier, that’s all. Miss Morgan, is there any chance we could see Bonita?”

Lola quickly added, her voice tinged with hope, “Yes, please, if possible.”
“Sorry, Bonita has chosen to be alone right now. Please leave,” Fernanda declared, her tone final. She turned on her heel and strode toward the bustling street, the urgency in her steps echoing her need to dive back into her programming project at school, crucial for her upcoming final exam.
Knowing that Bonita was safe behind those walls, Fernanda allowed herself a rare moment of peace.
However, no sooner had she distanced herself from the doorway than the group scrambled after her. Jett, stepping deliberately into her path, wore an ingratiating smile. “Miss Morgan, Bonita is truly fortunate to have someone as devoted as you looking after her. We deeply value your kindness. Perhaps you’d allow us to express our gratitude by inviting you to dine with us in her honor?”
“Uninterested,” Fernanda dismissed the offer flatly, her voice crisp with impatience.
“But please, it would mean a great deal to us. Consider it a small token of our respect,” Jett persisted, planting himself firmly in front of her, his grin widening unsettlingly as he reached out, attempting to sway her decision. “It’s merely downstairs, in this very hotel. Surely, you could spare a moment?”
