Chapter 549:

“Will you move aside, or must I force you?” Fernanda’s eyes blazed with resolve, her stance unwavering. “Have you not heard that it is the mark of the wise to know when to yield?”

Fernanda’s words were blunt, and Jett froze in place.

She brushed past him without a second glance, her pace brisk and determined.

“Hey, Miss Morgan…” Jett called after her, but she didn’t even turn around. He glared at her retreating figure and hissed, “Damn it! How dare she be so arrogant! I invited her to dinner out of kindness, and she didn’t even appreciate it! If it weren’t for her father’s influence, who would even care about her? Hmph!”

Watching Jett’s indignant display, Myron felt nothing but disdain.

Jett had been so quick to badmouth Fernanda. Wasn’t he just trying to curry favor with her moments ago because of her influential father?

“Her arrogance won’t last,” Jett sneered. “Who knows what will happen to her in the future—ouch!”

A small pebble came out of nowhere, striking him on the cheek. Jett yelped, looking around, but the street was empty.

Myron and Lola exchanged a knowing glance. Myron spoke calmly but firmly, “Mr. Ramirez, let’s put what happened between our children behind us and head back, shall we?”

Though his words were polite, his attitude was clear—he no longer saw Jett in the same light.

Once, Myron had been deferential, agreeing with Jett on everything. But now, things had shifted.

With Bonita connecting with someone as influential as Fernanda, Myron believed their family’s future was looking brighter than ever. If they worked hard, they could soon mingle with the upper echelons of Esaham.

Now, they no longer needed to grovel to Beckett and his family as they had before.

The thought ignited a spark of excitement in Myron. He couldn’t wait to move the family to Esaham and follow the promising path Bonita had paved.

Jett, clearly displeased, decided not to argue. He left in a huff, hailed a taxi, and headed straight for the airport.

Throughout it all, Beckett remained silent. His eyes burned with quiet fury, his face unreadable. Only he knew the depth of his frustration and anger.

On the way, Jett offered unsolicited advice. “Beckett, you’d better treat Bonita well from now on. Don’t lash out at her like you did before.” Beckett stayed silent, his thoughts elsewhere.

He wondered if Bonita would become even harder to manage in the future—and what he could possibly do to change that.

Fernanda worked on her program late into the night, finally stretching as the clock struck 2 a.m. Wendy walked in just as she yawned. “You’re back early today,” Fernanda remarked.
