“Got an early class tomorrow,” Wendy replied.
Fernanda nodded. “The bar you’re working at seems pretty decent. Good atmosphere, flexible hours. You should consider staying there long-term.”
“Thanks to your help last time, we managed to solve a crisis at the bar,” Wendy said with a grin, rummaging through her things. “And now my coworkers keep asking me to bring you back. So far, five of them have asked for your contact info.”
“Only five?” Fernanda raised an eyebrow with a smirk. “I must be losing my touch.”
Wendy laughed and playfully tapped her on the head. “Don’t worry—I told them you’re taken. Oh, you should’ve seen their hearts shatter.”
Fernanda chuckled but paused when Wendy casually added, “Oh, did you know Cristian’s back in Litdence?”
Fernanda shook her head. “No. When?”
“Bobby mentioned it today. Said Cristian returned yesterday morning.”
Wendy didn’t linger on the topic and headed to the bathroom with her clothes. Fernanda assumed it was work-related. Cristian’s company, Vertex Investments, was a big deal, and being busy was part of the job.
What she didn’t expect was to wake up to a message from Cristian.
“Are you free for dinner tonight?”
Yawning, she typed back, “Weren’t you in Litdence?”
The reply came almost instantly. “I already took care of it. Brought back an admirer for you.”
An admirer? Fernanda was curious.

That evening, at the restaurant, she finally met the so-called admirer. Sitting across from her was a woman wearing glittery purple eyeshadow. She studied Fernanda with a serious expression, as though appraising an antique—and not a very valuable one.
“What a pity,” the woman finally said. Her voice matched her gray hair, bold Western-style makeup, and floral tattoos—sultry and mature.
Cristian raised an eyebrow. “What’s a pity?”
“Such a beautiful woman, yet she’s blind.”
Fernanda blinked, stunned.
Cristian coughed awkwardly. “Pretty sure her eyesight’s fine.”
The woman looked genuinely puzzled. “If she’s not blind, why would she be interested in my brother? Her taste must be seriously off.”
Before Fernanda could respond, a cold voice cut through the air. “Evie.”
Fernanda turned to see Bobby approaching with a stormy expression. He dropped into the seat next to her and glared at the woman. “Repeat that.”
Evie sat up straight, unfazed. “What? Am I wrong? Your fiancée is quite a beauty. I can’t understand what she sees in you, as you aren’t much of a match for her.”
