Evie blinked, then burst into laughter.
She laughed so hard she nearly fell out of her chair. “Oh, right. The only reason you have such a beautiful fiancée is because of the arrangement between our two families. Otherwise, with your personality, you wouldn’t stand a chance!”
The longer she laughed, the darker Bobby’s expression grew.
Grinding his teeth, he hissed. “You’ve been back for five minutes, and you’re already ruining my day.”
Evie wiped her eyes, still chuckling. “Relax, Bobby. You’re so sensitive now! Can’t even handle the truth?”
Fernanda observed the exchange with quiet amusement.
She’d heard Bobby had a sister studying art overseas, but she didn’t expect her to be so… lively.
After mocking Bobby to her heart’s content, Evie finally turned to Fernanda with a smile. “Hello, Fernanda. I’m Evie.”
“Nice to meet you,” Fernanda said, shaking her hand. The formality felt oddly out of place.
The food arrived soon after. Evie dove in enthusiastically, savoring every bite. “This is it! When I was abroad, I missed this so much. It just doesn’t taste the same when you make it yourself.”
For the first half of the meal, she barely spoke, too focused on eating. But once she was full, she leaned back and sighed, her eyes darting between Bobby and Fernanda.
Her pointed glances grew unbearable.
Bobby finally snapped, slamming his fork down. “Evie, stop staring at me. Just say it already!”

The meal was delightful for both Evie and Fernanda—the food truly exceeded expectations. Even Cristian, who typically ate sparingly, seemed to savor every bite. The only one clearly not enjoying himself was Bobby, who spent most of the meal pondering one singular question: could he disown his sister?
