Chapter 552
Chapter 552:
That was the final straw for Bobby. He grabbed Evie by the ear and dragged her away, ignoring her protests.
“Cristian, give Fernanda a ride,” Bobby said, his expression unreadable. “I’ll handle Evie myself.”
Cristian hummed in response.
Evie, meanwhile, flailed in Bobby’s grip, shouting, “Let me go! Cristian, Fernanda, help me!”
Both Fernanda and Cristian shrugged at Evie, indicating that there was nothing they could do as Bobby unceremoniously shoved her into the car and slammed the door shut.
Fernanda hesitated, glancing at Cristian. “Will she be okay?”
Cristian offered a reassuring smile. “She’ll be fine. Evie’s never come to harm in Bobby’s hands.”
“I see,” Fernanda murmured. “He looks like a strict brother, though.”
Cristian chuckled. “That’s just an illusion.”
They shared a brief silence, and then Cristian asked, “Feel like grabbing anything else to eat?”
“No, I’m stuffed,” Fernanda replied, making a mental note of the restaurant. She would definitely bring her friends here next time.
“Then I’ll take you back to school,” Cristian offered.
She opened the navigation app on her phone and showed Cristian the address of the hotel where Bonita was staying. “I’m not going back to school tonight,” she said.
Cristian raised an eyebrow. “Staying at a hotel?”

Fernanda briefly explained Bonita’s situation.
“Surprised, aren’t you? Bonita’s parents are really terrible.”
“Not really,” Cristian replied casually. “Not all parents are loving and attentive.”
Fernanda fell silent, her thoughts drifting.
Cristian’s upbringing had been even harsher than Bonita’s. For a moment, she regretted bringing up a topic that stirred painful memories for him. Sensing her guilt, Cristian smiled softly. “It’s okay. I’ve moved on from that painful past.”
Fernanda studied his profile.
Had he really moved on? Could anyone truly leave behind the coldness and malice of their childhood?
The headlights of an oncoming car illuminated Cristian’s face, giving his features a radiant glow. Suddenly, he turned to her with a gentle smile. “Do you know why I went to Litdence yesterday?”
Fernanda shook her head.
