Chapter 561
Chapter 561:
“I didn’t mean to offend you. It was just a sudden thought!”
“Please don’t be angry! Forget about it. I’m sorry. Please forgive me!”
Every message was followed by a pitiful or crying emoji, the sheer desperation dripping from his words making him seem utterly pathetic. Fernanda raised an eyebrow. Why was this guy so cautious around her? Still, seeing him flailing for forgiveness, she thought she should probably say something to calm him down.
If he wanted to hear her voice, why not give him what he wanted?
Switching on the microphone in the game room, she said, “I’m not mad. Don’t worry. Oh, and Merry Christmas.”
In a small café, Kevin nearly spat out his coffee.
Luckily, no one sat across from him. The only thing in front of him was an empty sofa, saving him from a messy embarrassment.
But seriously—what the hell? What did he just hear? A… a woman’s voice? Nimbus was a woman?
Kevin stared at his phone, dumbfounded, gripping his coffee cup as if to steady himself. His first impulse was to smack it against his own head to snap out of what must be a dream.
He stared at the screen for a moment before slowly typing a single question mark.
Then, realizing how rude that might seem, he quickly followed it up with, “Are you using a voice changer?”
The question made Fernanda roll her eyes. Seriously? Was it so hard to believe that a woman could be good at gaming?
Shaking her head, she typed, “I’m not using a voice changer.”
Kevin read the message and froze. So, Nimbus really was a woman.

As he thought back, it made sense. Nimbus had never explicitly mentioned her gender, and her profile had always been male. With her aggressive playstyle and godlike skills, everyone had just assumed she was a guy.
Suddenly inspired, Kevin typed, “Your voice is really nice—very pleasant.”
After sending the message, another thought struck him like a bolt of lightning. Nimbus’s voice sounded… familiar, like he’d heard it somewhere before.
But that didn’t make any sense. She never used a mic when gaming with him, and she definitely didn’t talk during live streams.
Still, the familiarity nagged at him.
He sat there, racking his brain, but the answer refused to surface. Finally, he convinced himself it was just the effect of knowing her for so long. Hearing her voice for the first time probably just felt familiar.
That evening, the Morgan family enjoyed a lavish dinner. Robert, in high spirits, drank a little too much, with Ector joining him for a couple of glasses before stepping back to let the old man revel. Robert couldn’t stop smiling; with Fernanda by their side, he was certain the new year would bring even better fortunes for the Morgan family.
