Chapter 573
Chapter 573:
As Fernanda looked out the window, her breath caught. Zhota? Cristian had actually brought her back here?
Fernanda discovered that the private jet had landed at a military base.
When she and Cristian stepped out, two figures emerged to greet him. Leading the way was a middle-aged man clad in a black down jacket. His sharp brows and piercing eyes gave him a commanding, almost regal aura, while his upright stance hinted at a lifetime of discipline and service.
Cristian stepped forward, bowing slightly as he spoke with reverence. “Long time no see.”
A broad grin spread across the man’s face as he extended a firm hand, pulling Cristian into a hearty shoulder pat. “Cristian! Look at you. You’ve become even more handsome!”
Afterward, turning his gaze to Fernanda, the man’s tone softened. “And this young lady is…?”
“My girlfriend,” Cristian replied with quiet pride.
The man raised an eyebrow, his gaze on Fernanda. A smile spread across his face. “Oh? Is that so?” he said, nodding approvingly. “You two make a perfect pair.”
Fernanda returned the smile, her acknowledgment quiet but warm.
“Alright, I’m glad to see you’ve arrived safely. It’s getting late, though. You both should rest up. It’s still a long drive to the town.”
Cristian offered a firm nod. “I’ll drop by again tomorrow.”
The man returned the gesture with a cheerful wave. “Of course, of course! Take care on the road!”
Leading Fernanda to the airport’s entrance, Cristian guided her into a rugged off-road vehicle that had been patiently idling for their arrival. The car drove away from the airport, winding its way toward the distant town.

Cristian glanced at Fernanda, then spoke up. “Since the New Year’s coming up, I understand that you want to visit Hiram’s grave, so I arranged this. There aren’t any direct flights from Esaham to Zhota, and connecting ones take forever, so I chartered a private plane. Zhota doesn’t have a civilian airport, so I had to ask my former mentor to let us land at the military base. Everything lined up perfectly.”
“You graduated from a military academy before going abroad for further studies, right? And wasn’t Vinson one of your comrades there?”
Cristian affirmed with another nod. “Exactly.”
“And that man we just saw—was he your mentor at the academy?”
“Yes,” Cristian nodded. “He’s now a high-ranking officer. My request to use the airfield was granted partly because of my background at the academy and a few successful missions I’ve been part of.”
Fernanda turned her gaze to him, her voice soft but heartfelt. “Thank you, Cristian.”
