Chapter 580:

“Believe me, you’re irreplaceable,” Fernanda said, half-smiling, half-frowning. “Once you’re in Esaham, your first stop has to be the orthodontist. It’s a crime for a smile like yours to go unperfected.”

The group burst into laughter at her remark. Gradually, they made their exit, glancing back with each step they took.

Ready to retire, Fernanda yawned mightily but then paused—Cristian was still out. Choosing to wait, she nestled into the sofa. The air conditioner hummed in the background, warding off the winter chill and wrapping her in a blanket of warmth that lulled her toward sleep.

Time slipped by unnoticed until she felt herself being lifted. Her eyes fluttered open to Cristian’s familiar face.

“You’re back,” she murmured, drowsy yet delighted.

Cristian nodded as he guided her toward the elevator. “Why didn’t you head to bed? You could’ve caught a cold out here.”

“I wanted to wait up for you,” she admitted with another yawn. “But I guess I drifted off.”

Cristian’s laughter was a low rumble. “Well, that’s quite the honor.” Fernanda tried to wriggle free, but his arms held her firmly.

“The boy I saw earlier is very close to you,” he remarked.

She nodded. “We’ve been thick as thieves for years.”

“Years, huh?” Cristian mused, his tone playful yet probing. “No wonder he sticks to you like glue.”

Earlier, he’d noticed Clement shadowing Fernanda, never far from her side.

Fernanda smiled wryly. “That’s just his way. To him, I’m all the family he has.”

“That’s going to have to change,” Cristian stated firmly.

Fernanda arched an eyebrow, her smile turning mischievous. “Oh really? Sounds like someone’s green with envy.”

They reached her room. Cristian swiped the key card, carried her inside, and gently laid her down on the bed. He settled on one knee beside her and pinched her nose playfully. “What I mean is, once we marry, I’ll also be part of your family. You won’t be his only family anymore,” he cooed.

Fernanda’s laughter rang out, her eyes sparkling. “That’s wonderful! I hope more people in the world show him kindness.”

Cristian chuckled softly, leaned down, and placed a tender kiss on her forehead. “Goodnight,” he murmured, tucking the blanket snugly around her before exiting the room.

Fernanda touched her forehead, a smile lingering as she picked up her phone. A notification showed a money transfer from Clement, accompanied by a message: “Now I can start spoiling you. Just take the money and buy yourself any Christmas gift you want. My holiday wish is for you, who shines like a star, to stay forever young.”
