Chapter 591
Chapter 591:
Evie jumped into the conversation. “Exactly! Fernanda, when we invited Grandpa to our place, he called me too noisy and refused to come. But as soon as he heard you’d be here today, he didn’t hesitate. Do you think he still cares about me? I was abroad for two years, and he didn’t miss me at all!”
“Did I say I didn’t miss you?” Curran shot back, pointing a finger at a mischievously smiling Evie. “Fernanda and I share a love for antiques, and we’re more like friends than the shallow familial bond between you and me.”
“Mom!” Evie reached out and tugged on Judie’s arm, complaining.
“Grandpa just said our family bond is shallow!”
“Well, isn’t it?” Curran cut in ruthlessly. “Beyond our blood ties, there’s not much else connecting us. Fernanda and I, on the other hand, we resonate in thought and aesthetics. That’s a higher level of connection, understand?”
Curran looked expectantly at Fernanda. “Right, Fernanda?”
Caught off guard, Fernanda was both amused and slightly overwhelmed. She wasn’t sure whether to agree or disagree.
Judie, seizing the moment, turned to Evie and advised, “You should take a leaf out of her book. Broaden your mind instead of obsessing over your next tattoo.”
Evie pouted, glancing down at the vibrant rose tattoo on the back of her hand. “Mom, you’ve changed. You used to love my tattoo designs!”
Martin raised an eyebrow and offered a gentle smile as he observed the unfolding drama. Over time, Judie had warmed to Fernanda, acknowledging her grace and composure in facing challenges despite her youth. Yet, Judie still harbored reservations about Fernanda, rooted primarily in her resentment towards Fernanda’s mother.
Martin and Fernanda’s mother had been childhood friends, which explained his protective stance towards Fernanda. However, Judie struggled to fully accept their close bond, even though it was nothing more than platonic.
Her initial resistance to Fernanda was fueled by this discomfort, especially when she discovered that Martin had been a driving force behind the Morgan family’s decision to bring Fernanda back to fulfill a marriage arrangement. At the time, Judie was livid.
Despite these complexities, Fernanda’s own abilities had gradually won Judie over, a testament to her admirable qualities.

After dinner, as everyone settled into sofas for some light conversation, Fernanda found herself distracted, pondering how to approach the topic of dissolving her engagement.
Curran’s unexpected presence further complicated matters.
Meanwhile, Curran kept casting pleased glances between Fernanda and Bobby. Seizing a moment of silence, he clapped his hands with excitement.
“Alright!” he exclaimed, his face beaming. “Now that Fernanda is of age, why don’t we have her and Bobby register their marriage in the next few days? That way, she’ll officially be my granddaughter-in-law! Hahaha!”
