Chapter 621:

Ector continued walking, his response a mere grunt as he moved on.

The woman caught up, stepping in beside him, keeping pace. Ector, towering at six feet one, stood beside the woman in high heels, her stature almost matching his.

She was cloaked in a maroon wool coat, her chestnut brown hair elegantly curled and pinned up with a crystal clip, a few strands softly framing her face.

Her features were delicate, her eyes slightly narrowed under light makeup, her lips a bold shade of red. A coy smile played on her lips, giving her an almost ethereal charm.

“If you ask me, you should just stay out of it,” she advised, her voice as refreshing as mint—rich and resonant. “It’s a tussle between your sister and your dad, and your sister holds no grudge against you.”

As she spoke, she casually draped an arm over Ector’s shoulder, her breath warm near his ear. Her tone dropped to a sultry whisper. “Why not join me tonight? My friends are dying to meet you.”

Ector’s face hardened, and he stepped back sharply, putting distance between them. Her balance wavered on her high heels, and she nearly toppled over.

Quickly, Ector reached out to steady her, but she leaned into his support, feigning weakness.

His demeanor chilled further. “Lynda, stand up properly.”

“Okay.” Lynda Santos straightened slowly, pushing her bangs back with a smirk, pleased by Ector’s flustered look. “Sorry, I just get so weak-kneed around you.”

“You…” Ector struggled for words as Lynda’s laughter rang out. He walked briskly to his car parked at the school gate, Lynda keeping pace and sliding into the passenger seat.

Ector leaned back, his teeth gritted. “Please get out. We’re not headed the same way.”

Lynda smiled, undeterred. “Just drive. I’ll go wherever you’re going.”

Ector scoffed and shot her a sidelong glance. “Do you really have nothing better to do?”

“Yes, I just wrapped up a case and I’m on vacation.” Lynda shifted to face him, reaching out to touch his cheek. “How else would I have time to tease you?”

At his limit, Ector opened the passenger door and pushed Lynda out. Each encounter with her tested his patience; her audacity stripped away his composure.

Lynda stood on the pavement, watching Ector’s car vanish down the road, and sighed.

His aloofness made him an easy target for her teasing.

Her sigh deepened as she extracted a cigarette from her bag, leaning casually against a trash bin to light up.

While she smoked, Lynda scrolled through her phone, her eyes narrowing at the barrage of negative comments targeting Voligny Company and Ector.

Snapping screenshots of the worst offenders, she muttered, “These idiots dare insult him. They’ll be getting a legal scare soon.”

That evening, Lynda dispatched legal warnings to the detractors defaming Ector online.

Two days later, Bright Lights Media announced that Fernanda would hold a press conference.
