Chapter 725
Chapter 725:
Bonita, on the other hand, was unmoved by their concern.
“Have you been in touch with your friends lately?” Myron asked. “Especially that Ms. Morgan?”
Bonita’s brow furrowed in annoyance, though she kept her voice even. “Yes.”
“That’s good! People like her are well-connected and influential in Esaham’s circles. You need to maintain solid relationships with them; it’ll benefit you in the future…”
He’d said that a thousand times before, always with the same tone, as if reading from a script.
Bonita could feel her irritation rise. She was close to snapping, but instead, she did nothing — just let him ramble while her mind drifted elsewhere.
Her fingers moved over her phone, texting Neal.
The finals were tomorrow, and Neal had asked if she was going to watch him compete. Of course, she’d said yes. Then, Neal wanted to know whether she’d be watching it live or online, to which she answered she’d be there in person.
“If I win the championship, let’s meet up in person,” Neal said.
Bonita froze.
Meet up?!
One hand trembled as it held her phone, while the other pressed against her chest, as though trying to soothe the whirlwind inside. She could hardly believe what she had just read.
How was she supposed to reply? What was she even supposed to say?
In a frenzy, she took a screenshot of their chat and quickly sent it to Fernanda. “Fernanda, what should I do?!”
Fernanda was the only one who knew about her relationship with Neal, and apart from asking her, Bonita didn’t know who else to turn to. Thankfully, Fernanda was in the loop; without her, Bonita would have no one to confide in.
“Bonita, are you even listening to me?” Myron’s voice broke through her thoughts.

“Huh? Oh, yeah, I heard you,” she muttered, snapping back to reality. “Mom, Dad, I’ve got to go. I have some work stuff, need to head out for a bit.” As Bonita spoke, she grabbed her phone and left the hotel. Her parents didn’t question her — she had already told them about her internship.
After leaving the hotel, Bonita found a quiet corner in a shopping mall and called Fernanda.
“Haha!” Fernanda’s voice rang through the phone with a teasing laugh. “Looks like you’re finally stepping into the real world.”
Bonita’s face turned bright red. She quickly scrambled to defend herself. “Oh, don’t jinx it; nothing’s set in stone!”
Fernanda’s voice was light and teasing. “Come on, this is great news! You two have been chatting for ages. It’s about time you meet face to face. Are you planning to be stuck in this virtual world forever? This is a golden opportunity, especially since he’s the one who brought it up.”
“But I’m so nervous!” Bonita admitted, her words tumbling out. “What if he sees me and just — breaks up with me?”
