Chapter 745
Chapter 745:
Cristian exhaled slowly, rubbing his temples with one hand before glancing at her with a faint smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. “It’s nothing.”
He reached for the ignition. “Let me take you back to school.” But before he could turn the wheel, Fernanda pressed her hand over his.
“I want to know,” she said, her voice steady but laced with concern. “Cristian, don’t just share the good moments with me. I want to hear about your worries, your burdens. You’re always looking out for me, but I want to be there for you too.”
Her voice flowed like a gentle breeze, each word caressing his heart with soothing clarity.
“I was just reflecting on some things from the past,” Cristian said, his tone carrying a hint of mystery. “If you want to know, I can tell you, but isn’t it a little late for this? Are you sure we should talk here?”
Fernanda paused, weighing his words thoughtfully.
Though it was her summer break, she knew Cristian’s schedule was brimming with commitments. She didn’t want to steal more of his precious time than necessary.
“Then let’s go to your place,” Fernanda suggested with a bright resolve. “It’s about time you got some rest anyway.”
Cristian’s eyebrows arched, a flicker of amusement lighting his face as he looked at her with a half-smile. “Go to my place?”
The words, ordinary in essence, took on a subtle and layered significance when spoken in his deliberate tone.
Fernanda blinked, momentarily flustered. “I didn’t mean anything by it! What kind of ideas are you getting now?”
Cristian’s grin widened as he feigned innocence, his eyes brimming with mischief. “I didn’t say a word. What are you accusing me of thinking?”
Fernanda rolled her eyes, turning her head away to shut him out.
Suppressing a chuckle, Cristian started the car. One hand gripped the steering wheel, while the other reached over to clasp hers with gentle persistence.

Fernanda stubbornly ignored him.
Truth be told, Cristian adored her in these moments. Her defiance gave her a fiery charm, a kind of spirited playfulness that matched her age. It made her seem more vibrant, more alive, as if she were painted with hues he never wanted to fade.
And he was more than willing to appease her until that stubborn front softened.
“I figured you’d be rushing off to see Neal,” Cristian said, breaking the silence. “He’s not exactly in great shape right now.”
“I’ll see him tomorrow,” Fernanda replied without hesitation. “He needs the night to settle his thoughts.”
She understood Neal’s mindset like the back of her hand. After enduring such a massive setback, he needed time to find his footing again.
Prying questions and excessive displays of concern from others could feel more like a suffocating blanket than a comforting hand. Neal was not the type to act on a whim, and Fernanda knew he would never do anything reckless. So, going to visit him tomorrow seemed like the most sensible choice.
