Chapter 765
Chapter 765:
When she arrived, Fernanda had already placed her order—blueberry mousse and a cappuccino, just the way Bonita liked it. Setting the desserts in front of Bonita, Fernanda’s gaze was sharp.
“What’s going on? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
Bonita stirred her cappuccino absentmindedly, shaking her head. “It’s nothing.” With everything going on with Neal, she didn’t want to add more to Fernanda’s plate.
Fernanda met Bonita’s gaze squarely. “I visited Beckett earlier today.” With a sharp clink, Bonita’s silver spoon slipped from her hand, landing in her coffee and splashing a few drops onto her skin. The heat didn’t faze her; she remained frozen, her eyes locked on Fernanda.
“Why would you go see him?” Bonita asked, her voice calm despite the turmoil brewing inside.
“Because of the rumors about Neal,” Fernanda replied bluntly. “Beckett’s the one who paid to have them spread.”
Bonita’s breath caught in her throat. Her eyes widened, and her face was a mixture of shock and disbelief as she looked at Fernanda. It took a long moment before she could speak.
“He did that?”
“Yes,” Fernanda said, confirming with a firm nod. “He admitted it.”
Bonita’s lashes fluttered as her lips pressed into a thin line. The tension in the room thickened as the weight of the revelation settled between them.
The fury in her eyes was undeniable, like a wildfire that threatened to consume everything. Her hands trembled, and her entire body seemed on the verge of eruption.
Without warning, she slammed her palm down on the table, the dishes rattling from the force. Realizing they were in a public place, she quickly stifled the urge to shout. Clenching her fists, she fought to maintain control.
Bonita growled through gritted teeth, her voice quivering with rage. “He’s vile, shameless! What did Neal do to deserve this? Why would Beckett expose him like that?”
The mere thought of the news she had seen earlier today was enough to set her heart ablaze with anger. The news spread like wildfire, revealing that Neal’s father had been a drug addict for many years, leaving the family in ruin. It also reported that Neal’s mother, devastated by the hardships, had taken her own life. A man like that—Neal’s father—was truly a vile creature. To make matters worse, Neal was still financially supporting his monstrous father, handing over large sums of money.

The internet, filled with outrage, poured insults upon both Neal and his father.
But Bonita’s heart went out to Neal. She couldn’t stop thinking about his charisma and sharp wit during his livestream, which only made her feel more sorrowful. How had he managed to stay so bright and cheerful, having grown up in such a broken home? How much emotional strength did it take for him to keep going?
Despite his resilience, even Neal couldn’t hold it together when he saw his father at the awards ceremony, a stark reminder of the deep scars his father had left on him. And then Beckett, without a shred of decency, had aired all of this to the public, ripping open Neal’s emotional wounds to attack and humiliate him. How could someone be so vile and shameless?
Bonita couldn’t shake the truth: all of this had stemmed from her. If she hadn’t been involved with Neal, Beckett never would have met him and wouldn’t have targeted him. It was her fault. Everything that had happened to Neal was because of her.
