Chapter 766
Chapter 766:
The weight of this realization crushed Bonita. Tears welled up in her eyes, streaming down her face.
“It’s all my fault,” she whispered through choked breaths, her voice heavy with regret. “I pulled Neal into this mess. It’s all my fault.”
Bonita couldn’t shake the image of Neal’s heartache, and the guilt gnawed at her. She felt a surge of anger toward herself. She hissed under her breath, fists clenched. “Beckett’s going to pay for this—mark my words!”
Tonight, when Beckett showed up, she was going to demand an answer. She needed to know why he’d chosen to hurt Neal.
“I came here to talk about that,” Fernanda said, leaning in, her arm brushing the table as she motioned for Bonita to get closer.
Bonita didn’t hesitate; she slid over to Fernanda’s side, knowing her friend had a plan in mind.
With a hushed voice, Fernanda whispered something into Bonita’s ear. Bonita’s eyes shifted from wide-eyed shock to flickers of excitement, before wavering into doubt.
“Are you sure… Is this even possible?” Bonita asked, her voice laced with uncertainty.
Fernanda gave a firm nod. “Absolutely. It’s not difficult at all. And if it works, it’ll fix everything for good. Beckett won’t be able to touch you again.”
Bonita’s resolve solidified in an instant. “Then I’m in. I’ll do whatever it takes!”
The desire to rid herself of Beckett burned inside her, and she was willing to go to any lengths to make it happen. Beckett loomed beside her like a dark shadow, a ticking time bomb that could explode at any moment, wreaking havoc on her life or the people she cared about. His presence was overwhelming—dangerous and unpredictable.
“August 30th is your birthday, right? We’ll put the plan into motion that day,” Fernanda said to Bonita, her voice steady. “You’ve got about ten days to keep Beckett in check. No matter how repulsed you feel, you need to hold it together and make sure nothing seems off.”
Bonita hesitated for a moment before responding, “Alright, but… is it risky?”
Fernanda gave a reassuring smile. “No risk at all. You have my word.”

A weight lifted from Bonita’s chest, and she exhaled deeply, the tension starting to fade away. She had complete faith in Fernanda. Almost everything Fernanda set her mind to had succeeded.
“Thank you, Fernanda,” Bonita said with heartfelt gratitude, reaching out to grasp her hand. “I don’t know what I’d do without your help.”
“We’re friends. No need to thank me,” Fernanda said, laughing gently, her voice warm. She patted Bonita’s hair affectionately.
Friendship meant the world to Fernanda. Growing up with only Hiram as family, she treasured her bonds with friends.
Bonita and Sloane were the kind of friends Fernanda would go to any lengths to protect—innocent, untouched by the cruel realities of the world. They reminded her of the younger version of herself, the one who had grown up in a happy, sheltered environment, blissfully unaware of life’s darker corners.
The clock struck 9:30 PM as she finished her shift, and true to form, Bonita spotted Beckett waiting downstairs.
