Chapter 772
Chapter 772:
Fernanda’s eyes scanned the photograph until she spotted Evie, who looked much younger than she did now, her hair styled in playful ponytails.
But what caught Fernanda off guard was another familiar face in the frame—Hertha.
In the picture, Hertha stood out like a lily in a field of daisies, her beauty delicate yet striking, her eyes sparkling with an almost ethereal clarity.
Fernanda had always known Hertha’s journey in the entertainment industry had been long and storied. She was also aware of the group’s sizable roster of members, but discovering Evie’s involvement was an unexpected revelation.
“Fernanda, what are you staring at?” Evie’s voice broke through her thoughts as she appeared beside her, holding out a glass of juice.
Accepting the drink, Fernanda pointed to the photograph. “You were in a girl group?”
Evie nodded, a nostalgic smile playing on her lips. “Yes, I was. Back in high school, a girl group came to our school for auditions. On a whim, I tried out—and to my surprise, I got in. What girl doesn’t dream of stardom, right?”
“And what happened after that?” Fernanda’s curiosity deepened.
Clearly delighted by Fernanda’s interest, Evie eagerly recounted her story. “It didn’t take long to figure out I wasn’t cut out for it. My singing was terrible, and I couldn’t keep up with the choreography. A few months later, I left the group. Still, it was a one-of-a-kind experience. I think about it sometimes.”
“Was Hertha in the same group?” Fernanda asked, her tone more thoughtful now.
“Yes, she was, but we never got along,” Evie admitted candidly. “Back then, I was closer to Clarinda.”
After a brief pause, Evie added, “Do you know Clarinda Turner? She’s Vinson and Mayson’s younger sister.”
“I’ve heard of her, but we’ve never met,” Fernanda replied.

Evie sighed wistfully. “I haven’t seen her in ages either. When I left the group and went abroad for school, I lost touch with her. One time, I came back during a break and tried to find her. I even went to her house, but all they told me was that she’d gone abroad too.”
Evie let out a deep sigh, the weight of her thoughts pressing heavily on her. “Why did she cut ties with me the moment she went abroad? It just doesn’t make sense.” Her voice trailed off, as if she had wandered into the labyrinth of her memories. “I remember one time when I went to her house. I saw Clarinda there, but all I caught was her silhouette as she walked away. I called out to her, but she took off without a word. When I asked Vinson and Mayson why she was avoiding me, they…”
“Clammed up like they were guarding some great secret. After that day, I never saw her again.”
As she spoke, a shadow of sadness fell across Evie’s face, her features clouded by worry and regret.
Fernanda reached out with a gentle voice, hoping to offer some comfort. “Life has a strange way of weaving people in and out of our paths. You’ll cross many more bridges of connection and farewell. Maybe Clarinda had reasons she couldn’t bring herself to share.”
Evie nodded slowly, her expression softening, though her heart still seemed weighed down. “Maybe that’s it… Whatever the reason, I just hope she’s alright. You know, talking about Hertha just now brought back so many memories. Hertha and Clarinda were like oil and water; they just couldn’t mix. Always clashing, always at odds. And now look—Clarinda’s vanished like a whisper in the wind, while Hertha’s thriving. It’s strange how life plays its hand.”
