Chapter 791
Chapter 791:
Inside, Myron’s mind raced, caught in a whirlwind of thoughts. If only Bonita’s injuries had been more severe—then Fernanda’s attention would have been firmly locked on them.
In Myron’s view, connections held the real power, and maintaining a good rapport with Fernanda was essential.
A wise person knows how to pick their moments, and they, like clever birds, had already found a sturdy tree to settle upon.
The sun beat down mercilessly, scorching the earth with an intensity that almost seemed to set the very air alight with its charged energy. Fernanda glanced at Nettie, whose frustration was practically bubbling over, and offered a smile.
“Mrs. Ramirez, here’s a little piece of advice. For Beckett’s sake, it would be wise to keep a low profile for now. Leave everything to the test results. After all, you’re convinced Beckett is perfectly fine, so if that’s the case, what’s there to fear from the test, right?”
In the harsh sunlight, Fernanda’s presence was striking, a vision of purity and grace that belonged to someone untouched by the world’s heaviness. Even her voice, though calm, carried a cool, effortless authority.
A gentle breeze stirred, and Nettie’s thoughts seemed to snap back into focus.
It hit her suddenly: this was Esaham, not her hometown. This wasn’t a place where the Ramirez family could get away with everything. Here, no one would offer her sympathy just because she was upset. Here, no one cared about the power of the Ramirez family, and no one would make exceptions for them.
In this city, standing beneath the same sun as everyone else, they were just another face in the crowd, without the privileges they’d taken for granted.
And she realized with a sharp pang that with all her power, she couldn’t even find a way to get her own son off the hook.
After what seemed like an eternity, Nettie managed to find her voice.
“If the test results come back fine, can my son be released?”

Fernanda’s smile barely flickered. “Of course. But if there’s an issue, then…”
“What happens if there’s an issue?” Nettie’s voice was tight, her fear starting to bleed through.
Fernanda’s smile remained unchanged. “Then he’ll have to stay for compulsory treatment. He won’t be allowed out until he’s completely recovered.”
The weight of Fernanda’s words struck Nettie like a bolt of lightning.
Her body lurched, teetering on the edge of collapse.
“He’s fine. He’s always been fine. I raised him! He’s a normal kid,” Nettie muttered desperately, clutching at any remaining shred of hope.
Lola rushed to steady her, her face filled with concern. “Mrs. Ramirez, please don’t panic,” she urged.
Nettie shoved Lola aside, her actions dripping with disdain. Lola’s face turned pale, embarrassment washing over her.
“You should head home,” Fernanda said, her tone cool. “No need for you to stay. We’ll notify you as soon as the test results come in.”
Nettie’s glare was so sharp it could slice through steel.
