Chapter 790
Chapter 790:
Nettie shook him off, her eyes blazing. “I do not care. You will find a way to bring our son back. Let our people handle it—I do not trust these Esaham officers!”
Jett exhaled, a long-suffering sigh. “I have tried, again and again! But they will not release him. They say our son committed a crime here in Esaham, and the case must be handled here.”
Nettie froze, her painted lips trembling. The fight within her flickered, momentarily dimmed by the weight of reality. But then, as if struck by a new idea, she turned abruptly and stormed back towards the police station.
This time, she did not direct her wrath at the officers. Instead, she stopped in front of Bonita’s parents, who had remained silent observers at the entrance.
“You will go inside,” Nettie ordered, her voice sharp as steel. “And tell the officers to drop the charges. This is a private matter, and we will settle it among ourselves.”
Bonita’s mother, Lola, hesitated, stealing a glance at her husband.
Myron rose to his feet and shook his head. “Mrs. Ramirez, that will not be possible. The incident happened in Esaham, and Bonita was not the one who filed the report. Even if we wished to, we could not undo it.”
When word arrived that Bonita had been in an accident, their anxiety skyrocketed. First, they fretted over Bonita’s condition, and second, they braced themselves for the storm the Ramirez family would surely unleash.
Then came the call. The voice on the other end delivered a precise instruction—escort the Ramirez family to Esaham and ensure that the matter was handled there. No matter what demands the Ramirezes made, there could be no concessions.
When Myron pressed for the caller’s identity, the answer was curt yet seismic—they were with the Reed family of Litdence. The words hit him like a thunderclap. Myron was left speechless.
The Reeds were untouchable, their influence woven so deeply into the country’s elite that opposing them was a fool’s errand.
Myron readily agreed to the request.
Fear of Jett evaporated like mist under the morning sun.

Once Jett’s loyal lapdog, Myron had now found a master with a far heavier leash. The Reeds’ shadow stretched so wide that the Ramirezes, once looming figures, now seemed nothing more than flickering candlelight against a tempest.
Nettie seethed with fury at Myron’s smug demeanor, her slender finger jabbing toward him as she struggled to form words. “You…” Since their last trip to Esaham and their return, Myron and Lola had stopped treating them with the same enthusiasm as before.
Nettie knew why. Bonita had made connections in Esaham, and her parents had gained confidence, no longer relying on their support.
“Miss Morgan.” Myron approached Fernanda, his face lighting up with an expression that practically dripped with admiration. “Is Bonita doing okay? We’ve been so worried about her!”
“She’s fine, just went back to her dorm to rest. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of her,” Fernanda replied, her voice calm but firm.
“That’s great to hear. Appreciate your help!” Myron immediately dipped his head in gratitude.
