Chapter 796
Chapter 796:
“I assumed you were staying at your family home,” Lynda said as she flicked on the turn signal to switch lanes.
Fernanda admired Lynda’s elegant profile and recalled what Jeff had mentioned about Lynda’s past with Ector.
Spending the afternoon with Lynda, Fernanda found her to be a vibrant and genuine person—fiery, open-hearted, and as bright as a live flame.
“Why are you staring?” Lynda asked, her gaze fixed forward. “Trying to see if I’m prettier than you?”
“I’m curious why you’re drawn to Ector,” Fernanda responded candidly.
Lynda stomped on the brakes, causing the car to jolt as its speed suddenly dropped. Fernanda’s back pressed lightly against the seat from the sudden shift. But in no time, the vehicle steadied itself and eased forward at a slow, steady pace.
“Ector told you that I once pursued him?” Lynda arched an eyebrow.
“No, it came up in conversation with a mutual friend who wondered if you are now together.”
Laughing, Lynda ran a hand through her glossy curls. “I haven’t visited Esaham University for ages, yet my tales still circulate.”
Fernanda remained silent, thinking the response was overly theatrical.
“We were never a couple,” Lynda said slowly. “He despises me; how could we be?”
“Really?” Fernanda asked, unable to see anything objectionable about Lynda.
“Why would I deceive you?” Lynda remarked casually. At a red light, she turned to face Fernanda, playfully lifting her chin with her finger. “However, I’d appreciate a favor if you’re offering.”
As she spoke, she playfully blew a soft breath toward Fernanda, a captivating smile curling on her lips. With her red lips and dazzling teeth, she looked every bit like a mesmerizing enchantress.
At that moment, the glow from the outside lights spilled in, casting a soft illumination over Lynda’s face, highlighting her sharp, defined features. The light traced the deep hollows of her collarbones, like two sculpted ravines, while the graceful curves of her chest created an alluring silhouette.

She resembled a temptress who had stepped right out of a masterpiece, or perhaps she was the very embodiment of allure itself.
“I think…” Fernanda said, eyeing her thoughtfully. “Maybe Ector is drawn to someone more reserved. You, on the other hand, have an irresistible charm that’s hard to ignore.”
Lynda leaned back, her gaze sweeping over Fernanda’s ensemble. Fernanda wore a high ponytail, a graphic shirt, and a pleated skirt. “Oh? Your brother has a thing for girls like you?” she asked.
“It’s not about looks. It’s about personality. But then again, I’m only guessing,” Fernanda said.
After all, Ector had never told her about his preference. But Fernanda thought he had always been the quiet, gentle type, probably drawn to someone tender and grounded.
Lynda’s fiery temperament was a direct contrast to Ector’s calm nature. This pairing made no sense to Fernanda.
