Once the recording was sent, he sighed in relief.

With this action, he felt a significant burden lift from his shoulders. Having long been overshadowed by Jett, Myron sensed the balance of power shifting.

It was finally his moment to rise.

In a suite on the top floor of a luxury hotel in Coastropolis, Amory hung up the phone. He sat at the table, typed a few commands on the keyboard, and then turned the computer screen toward Cristian.

“Mr. Reed, the recording just came in from Myron,” Amory said.

Cristian stubbed out the cigarette between his fingers, stood up, and walked over to the table. With a click of a button, the room filled with the venomous tirade of a woman. Amory glanced cautiously at Cristian but saw that he remained composed, showing no sign of emotional disturbance.

“She’s hurling insults at Ms. Morgan,” Amory whispered to Cristian.

“I know,” Cristian replied flatly.

He straightened up from where he had been leaning over the computer screen, his slender fingers drumming thoughtfully against the smooth surface of the table. After a brief moment of silence, he asked, “Was everything settled this time?”

Amory nodded, replying, “The term sheet’s signed. The wire transfer will clear next February. I’m just worried about your rivals in the Reed Group…”

Their business trip had been intended to discuss an investment deal with a multinational corporation, a company boasting a strong profit margin that had attracted much attention. Among those vying for the deal were members of the Reed Group, represented by Marc. Cristian, on the other hand, was representing Vertex Investments, the company he had founded.

After more than two weeks of negotiations, Vertex Investments won the deal by a narrow margin. When Marc learned of this, he appeared visibly enraged. Despite the Reed Group’s far superior corporate strength—having been established for decades—Vertex Investments triumphed due to the personal relationship between Cristian and the vice president of the multinational corporation.

Cristian had met the vice president while studying abroad, and the vice president had confidence in Cristian’s abilities. Entrusting him with the deal was both a recognition of his skills and a gesture of support.

“I’m afraid Marc will inform your grandfather about this. I’m worried your grandfather will cause trouble for you,” Amory said, concern evident on his face.

Cristian chuckled at this. “Has he ever gone easy on me?” Amory didn’t respond.

“This trip to Coastropolis has served its purpose. We’ve secured the deal, but plans have changed. We won’t be returning to Esaham tomorrow. Zenithium is our next destination.” Amory was taken aback by Cristian’s announcement. Zenithium—wasn’t that Jett’s territory?

“But aren’t you in a hurry to return to Esaham? You haven’t seen Ms. Morgan for more than half a month,” Amory replied.

Cristian teased, “Are you more anxious than I am?”

“No, no,” Amory quickly said, waving his hands. “I’m just trying to see things from your perspective.”
