Fernanda, seeing his anguish, gently asked, “What are you thinking of doing?”

Exhaling deeply, Neal’s frustration was palpable. “I’ve had enough of him,” he declared. “I’m planning to cut off all ties with him.”

Sunlight spilled through the doorway, bathing Neal in its glow. As he stood there, the sunlight seemed only to emphasize the loneliness that surrounded him.

Fernanda hated seeing Neal like this. She believed Neal was supposed to be lively and carefree. Yet, in this moment, he was drowning in the sorrow and anguish inflicted on him by none other than his father. This kind of hurt felt twice as heavy for him now.

“So you’re washing your hands of him?” Fernanda asked sharply, her tone laced with an edge.

“I don’t want to deal with his business anymore, nor am I capable of doing so,” Neal replied.

He recalled seeing his father, who had begged him to talk to Fernanda, thinking she could help him. Neal found that idea ridiculous. Why would he want to help someone as incorrigible as his father in any way? Besides, Fernanda had already done so much for him. He didn’t want to burden her with his problems any further.

“Let Beckett pay the price since he’s the one who orchestrated all this. As for your father, he’s not getting off easy. He’ll be sent to rehab by court order. Not to mention, he was an accomplice in all of this,” Fernanda said.

Neal clenched his jaw obstinately.

After leaving the police station, Fernanda and Neal went to the studio. Later in the afternoon, Fernanda headed to Bright Lights Media.

She told Rosita all about Beckett’s scheme to manipulate Neal’s father. Rosita, thrilled by this revelation, immediately began writing another article. Her fingers danced across the keyboard, a sly smile playing on her lips as she said, “Look at you, finally learning how to play the game. You should always strike while the iron’s hot. This exclusive will skyrocket our popularity with the public.”

“Come on, the reason I didn’t have you publish this initially was for today. We need to draw it out slowly. If we release everything at once, there will be nothing left to write about later, will there?” Fernanda replied.

Rosita nodded in agreement, appreciating Fernanda’s strategic approach.

In the dorm, Bonita read the comments from the netizens with a happy smile. Beckett had brought this on himself and completely deserved it. Neal had finally shaken off the shadows that had been tormenting him. Everything was going to be alright.
