Chapter 814
Chapter 814:
That night, Kevin slept deeply, dreaming of a grand victory celebration where he held up a golden trophy amid cheers and flying confetti. Beside him stood Fernanda, offering a proud smile and saying, “Well done.”
He had finally gained her respect.
Upon awakening, Kevin felt momentarily disoriented. A new determination took root in his heart—to strive for her respect earnestly.
Previously, Kevin hadn’t sought anyone’s approval, but now he found himself wanting it. He admired Fernanda deeply, just as he admired Nimbus, a legend in the gaming world.
Descending to the dining room, Kevin spotted Erika and immediately asked, “Erika, have you seen Fernanda?”
Erika, having had a restless night and rising early, felt unusually irritable. When she heard Kevin’s question, her frustration peaked, and she forcefully set down her spoon. “Why are you asking about her? Am I invisible?”
Kevin was perplexed. “I see you, which is why I’m asking you.”
Erika, at a loss for words, simply scowled at Kevin and stormed off.
Kevin was left puzzled. “Why is she so upset? I didn’t do anything to her,” he murmured to himself before starting his breakfast.
That morning, Fernanda had already left the Morgan residence early due to a call from Clement, who informed her that Neal had headed to the police station to meet his father.
Fernanda made her way to the police station as well. Upon inquiry, she found out that Neal was in a meeting with his father, who had initiated the visit. She settled into a chair outside to wait.
After thirty minutes, Neal emerged. The morning sunlight bathed him, but it failed to warm the coldness that seemed to envelop him. His demeanor was frosty, his presence distant. It was evident he was in a foul mood.
Upon spotting Fernanda, he slumped down beside her, his posture defeated.
“What did he tell you?” Fernanda asked gently.

Neal rested his head in his arms, his shoulders shaking. It took him a while before he could speak, and when he did, his voice was choked with emotion. He looked up, his eyes red and his face contorted with grief.
“He confessed everything,” Neal said. “He admitted that Beckett orchestrated the events at the esports arena and even the initial kidnapping of Bonita. Beckett was trying to destroy me.”
Fernanda, already aware of these details, wasn’t shocked by the revelation.
Neal inhaled deeply, struggling to stabilize his shaking form.
“Do you believe he confessed out of guilt? Not a chance. He’s trying to manipulate me into finding him a lawyer, claiming he’s innocent and that Beckett’s the real criminal. He’s just looking to save his own skin.” Neal’s voice was measured, each word seeming to weigh heavily on him as he spoke.
“He shows no genuine regret,” Neal said, his voice tight with anger. “He appeared at that event, jeopardizing both my career and my personal life, without a shred of guilt. How can someone like that be my father?”
