Chapter 891
Chapter 891:
“What do you mean by that?” Jade slammed her hands on the table, rising to her feet. “Don’t act superior! Everyone’s just trying to offer guidance, and you’re dismissing it!”
“You claim to care, but your tone suggests otherwise,” Fernanda replied calmly. “But let’s be clear—this isn’t about guiding me. It’s about judging me. So, spare me your pretense.
“You…”
“I will always consider you family. If you need help, I’ll be there. But that’s the extent of it.” Fernanda’s eyes swept the room. “I think my point is clear.” She had stated her position, hoping they would recognize their boundaries. She could have fostered a closer relationship with them, but they had pushed her away. If they preferred a distant relationship, she would respect that.
Just then, someone entered the room and announced, “Toby, Mr. Harper is here.”
Fernanda immediately knew it had to be Martin. Had he really come in person?
Hearing this, Toby sprang to his feet and strode out of the room without a second’s hesitation. Jade, intrigued by his sudden urgency, paused for a moment before realization dawned. There was only one Mr. Harper important enough to command such attention from her uncle—the one from Esaham. Without a second thought, she followed after him. She was curious to see for herself what kind of people hailed from the elite families of Esaham.
As Fernanda stepped into the hallway, she found Cristian leaning casually against the wall just outside the door. His coat collar lay open, his chin tilted slightly upward, the smooth curve of his neck exuding effortless confidence. Noticing her from the corner of his eye, he turned his head, the faintest glimmer flickering in his gaze. The sunlight poured in, washing away the lingering shadows, leaving his eyes sharp and luminous.
“Martin is here,” Fernanda informed him.
Cristian gave a small nod. “Alright. Do you want me to go out with you?”
Fernanda replied with a question of her own, “Do you want to go out with me?” If they stepped outside together, their relationship would be laid bare for all to see. And of all the people who would witness it, the most significant was none other than Martin—the father of her former fiancé. Awkward didn’t even begin to cover it.

Cristian pressed his lips together, his Adam’s apple shifting as he swallowed. After a brief silence, his gaze dropped, dark lashes casting delicate shadows beneath his eyes. “I do,” he murmured.
His voice was barely louder than the whisper of leaves in the wind—soft, unguarded, and tinged with something fragile.
He wanted this. He wanted to announce to the world that Fernanda was his girlfriend. His desire to publicly support her had replaced his desire to conceal their relationship.
But he also feared the consequences it might bring upon her, so he left the final choice to her. Without hesitation, Fernanda walked over and took his hand in hers. “Then let’s go out together,” she said, her voice firm, unwavering.
