Chapter 905
Chapter 905:
But after Cristian and Bobby arrived, he noticed a shift in his aunts’ attitudes, and everything clicked.
It was all about perceived value. Initially, they saw no worth in Fernanda, so they treated her coldly. Then, when they recognized she might be valuable, their demeanor warmed.
But in Duran’s eyes, Fernanda was not someone who could easily be manipulated by their demeanor.
Duran felt disheartened. He had been surrounded by these snobs his entire life. Previously, in the absence of conflicts of interest, everyone had coexisted peacefully. Even when he overheard complaints about his late aunt, he didn’t think much of it.
Now, with an inheritance at stake, the darker sides of human nature were surfacing.
Pettiness, greed, and opportunism—traits he had never noticed before—were now glaringly obvious among his relatives. This realization made him yearn for an escape.
The train pulled into Esaham at noon. Fernanda, Cristian, and Bobby found a nearby restaurant to grab lunch.
After their meal, Fernanda sent a quick message to her teammates in the competition group, informing them that she was back and would join them at school later that afternoon.
She had already clarified her short trip to Silendale before leaving, and her teammates had shown understanding.
That afternoon, the team, along with their two advisors, dedicated several hours to resolving issues in their program and fine-tuning it. They continued their work until 9 p.m.
As Fernanda input the final line of code, she stretched, her body tingling with numbness.
Relief washed over her. The program was complete.
A steaming cup of milk tea, sweetened with brown sugar, appeared beside her.

Fernanda turned and saw Eddard Tarly, a senior student, standing there.
“Thank you,” she said, flashing him a grateful smile.
A blush crept over Eddard’s cheeks as he took a seat next to her. The lab’s bright lights cast a glow on his reddened face and his somewhat shy gaze.
Eddard had been a great support to Fernanda, and she could tell he had feelings for her. It was pretty obvious when someone had a crush.
“So, Fernanda,” Eddard began, his eyes glued to his computer screen. “Have you considered applying for the master’s programs? Professor Wells would be really excited if you did.”
Fernanda was aware of Eddard’s accomplishments—he had secured a recommendation for graduate studies from Professor Wells.
Professor Wells was a well-respected figure at the school, renowned for his dedication and expertise. He was also the coach for their competition team.
“Not right now,” Fernanda responded. “I have a lot on my plate, and I’m not sure I can manage the extra commitment.”
