Chapter 915
Chapter 915:
Maybe it was the weight of the situation, or maybe her mother’s words had unearthed memories she thought were long buried. No matter the reason, the weight of those memories felt crushing, and Wendy needed to let them out.
Fernanda and Sloane had always known Wendy and Bobby shared a past, but they had never pushed for details. Now that they knew the full story, it was even more shocking than they had expected. The truth shifted everything, making it feel more unsettling than they had imagined.
Fernanda turned toward the window. Snow fell in thick sheets, blanketing the world outside. Bobby’s car sat parked outside, its tinted windows concealing whatever expression he wore. The café’s soft music, meant to be calming, only made the silence feel heavier.
“I guided him down the wrong path. I owe him an apology.” Wendy kept her eyes on the table, her voice steady but distant. “After I dropped out, I left—moved to a new city, as far away as I could. I didn’t want to be the reason he misbehaved again.”
She knew Bobby blamed himself for getting her pregnant, even if he never said it outright. Their unrestrained intimacy had resulted in real consequences—ones he refused to let go of. She still saw it—the guilt in his eyes when they broke up.
Their relationship had ended in disaster, only to start again in the most complicated way. When they crossed paths again, Wendy looked unchanged—cold, beautiful, still working as a bartender. But she had changed. Now, she was a student at Esaham University, finally pushing herself academically.
Bobby, on the other hand, was still the troublemaker she had once led astray. Yet, he had changed too. His recklessness had settled in, making him the textbook definition of a spoiled rich kid—restless, wild, a notorious flirt, always chasing the next thrill.
Wendy’s lips curled into a smirk.
“So, your mother…” Sloane asked, her voice careful.
“She only knew I was expelled because of the scandal,” Wendy said. “She blamed Bobby and his family for it, but she didn’t realize I was the one who should have been blamed. I never told her the truth—there was no point.” Wendy sighed. “The years after I dropped out were rough. I moved to a new city, completely on my own. It felt like stepping back into the worst parts of my past—like being bullied all over again. Finding work was a struggle. Later, I found out Judie was behind it. She had never stopped watching, never stopped trying to make me pay. Maybe she wanted me gone. Or maybe dragging it out was more satisfying. She could’ve crushed me like an ant, but I’m tough. I didn’t break.”

She let out a bitter laugh. “I had it coming. I messed with her son, so she messed with me. Fair trade. People say the wicked are hard to kill—guess that includes me.”
Fernanda recalled Wendy once describing Judie as a force to be reckoned with. Now, she understood why.
“Later, Judie lost interest. Or maybe she didn’t want Bobby to find out what she had done to me, so she stopped targeting me,” Wendy said, stretching as she leaned back. “Either way, things got easier. And look at me now—I’m doing just fine.”
