Chapter 916
Chapter 916:
Sloane, usually the life of the party, had nothing to say. The weight of the story left no room for easy words. She realized that Wendy’s relationship with Bobby was complicated; it was tangled too deep to ever come undone.
Fernanda felt it too. Bobby and Wendy’s love carried too much pain, too much history. How could they ever move forward with a past that heavy?
When they stepped out of the café, snow was falling fast, coating the streets in white. Bobby rolled down his window and motioned for them to come over. As they neared, they noticed cigarette butts scattered outside the driver’s side.
“My dad wants me to bring you home, Fernanda,” Bobby said, his tone more serious than usual. “We’re having dinner at my place, and Cristian will be there as well.”
Fernanda gave a slight nod. “Alright.”
Bobby sniffed and tilted his head toward the car. “Come on. The snow’s getting bad.”

“Damn it.”
Fernanda glanced at him.
“I know Wendy’s stuck in the past, so I never bring it up,” Bobby said. “If we can’t fix it, we just avoid it. But today, that damn woman had to show up and stir everything up. What kind of mother does that to her own daughter?” Bobby’s jaw tightened, his frustration clear.
Fernanda understood the gravity of the situation. Bobby and Wendy’s relationship had been improving, but today’s events threatened to undo all the progress they’d made. And how could Bobby ever move past his family’s disapproval?
With the heater blasting in the car, Bobby rolled down the window, letting in the cold air and snowflakes, hoping the brisk chill would help clear his mind. After a long pause, he finally spoke.
“My feelings haven’t changed.”
“You’ve always loved her?” Fernanda asked, her voice cautious.
