Chapter 929
Chapter 929:
By 2 p.m., Martin and Judie returned home together. Judie handed Fernanda a bag containing new clothes.
“Thank you,” Fernanda said, following Cristian up the stairs.
The selection Judie had made was quite different from Fernanda’s usual style—a short black velvet dress that cinched at the waist and featured a square neckline to accentuate her collarbones. The look was completed with a chic wool blazer and knee-high black leather boots, offering a sophisticated yet bold vibe.
A scarf, beret, and stockings were the final touches to Fernanda’s ensemble. When Fernanda appeared at the bottom of the stairs, Cristian gave her an appreciative look and earnestly said, “You look stunning.”
Judie, clearly pleased with her choice, clapped her hands in approval.
The living room was filled with gift boxes, which Tammy was busy loading into the car. These were the gifts Cristian had carefully selected for the Morgans, showing the importance he placed on this meeting.
Cristian courteously opened the passenger door for Fernanda before heading to the driver’s side.
Once settled comfortably in the seat, Fernanda felt relaxed, admiring the snowy view outside.
The peaceful quiet was interrupted by the sound of Cristian’s phone ringing. He glanced at the caller ID before answering.
“Now?” His voice deepened, and Fernanda turned her attention to the change in his demeanor.
“No, that’s not possible,” he said firmly.
Fernanda could only hear his side of the conversation, but the urgency in the caller’s rapid speech was unmistakable. Cristian’s lips pressed into a thin line, signaling that he intended to address something important.

Fernanda gently patted his arm to get his attention and silently said, “Don’t mind me.”
“I’ll call you back later,” Cristian said shortly before hanging up.
He then explained, “An important client showed up unexpectedly. It was supposed to be just a manager, but their CEO appeared instead. Amory insists I be there.”
“Go ahead,” Fernanda responded. “We can meet up afterward.”
His reluctance was clear as his jaw clenched. He didn’t want to leave. Fernanda smiled gently and said, “It’s okay to delay meeting my family. Your job must come first.”
“But I promised you first,” Cristian said, his eyes holding hers.
“It’s fine,” Fernanda reassured him. “Unexpected things happen.”
“Alright,” Cristian agreed. “Do you want to join me, or should I drop you off at the Morgans’ house first?”
Seeing that they were nearly at Dawn Villas, Fernanda said, “Just drop me here. I’ll wait for you at home.”
