Chapter 937:

The man carried Fernanda away and closed the door behind him.

Michelle turned around and saw Kevin standing on the stairs. “What are you doing here, Kevin?” she screamed in shock.

Kevin froze on the stairs, his jaw tightening as he glared at them. “What the hell is going on?” His voice was low and sharp.

“N-nothing,” Michelle stammered. “Why are you down here? Do you need something?”

“Don’t play dumb!” He jabbed a finger at the door. “Who the hell was that guy? And why did you let him take Fernanda?”

Michelle shifted on her feet, her eyes flicking toward the door before meeting his. “You’re misunderstanding—he’s her boyfriend. She told us at dinner, remember?”

Kevin flung his arms out, cutting Michelle off. “I heard everything!” His voice cracked with fury. “He’s not her boyfriend—you handed her over in exchange for a company. I know what I heard!”

Michelle sucked in a sharp breath, her gaze darting to Robert. Panic flickered in her eyes.

Robert stiffened, his face pale despite his forced composure. He knew exactly how messed up this was.

Still, he scoffed. “Seriously? You’re making wild assumptions over a few out-of-context words? These are grown-up matters, none of your business.”

Kevin didn’t hesitate. He bolted down the stairs and lunged for the door.

Michelle latched onto his arm. “Where do you think you’re going?”

“I will go find Fernanda! I can’t let that guy take her!” Kevin’s eyes blazed. “Let go! I’m going after her!” He yanked his arm, but she held tight.

“You’re not going anywhere! Stand down!” Robert barked.

Kevin thrashed against Michelle’s grip, frustration boiling over. When she wouldn’t let go, he sank his teeth into her arm. She cried out and recoiled.

That was all he needed. He tore away and sprinted out the door.

The front door flew open, and a blast of icy wind slammed into him. Still in his pajamas, Kevin shuddered, teeth chattering as the cold bit through his skin.

He bolted into the yard, eyes darting frantically. Nothing. No car. No footprints. No trace of Fernanda.

She was gone. That man had taken her.

A sick feeling churned in his gut—disgust, fury, and something heavier.

How had it come to this? How could his own parents betray Fernanda, sacrifice her like she was nothing?

Kevin stood there, helpless.

The wind howled around him, numbing his fingers, his face, his thoughts.

He turned back to the mansion—grand, pristine, untouched by the ugliness inside. It wasn’t home. It never had been. Just a gilded cage filled with people he barely recognized.
