Chapter 952
Chapter 952:
This tactic was Robert’s forthcoming approach.
Indeed, it was his last resort to rehabilitate his public image.
He had originally intended to lure Fernanda back, shower her with perks, and persuade her to publicly declare her love for Fulton, thereby mitigating the scandal.
However, he hadn’t anticipated her new boyfriend would be Cristian.
Cristian’s involvement threw a wrench into all his scheming.
Robert was well aware of Cristian’s significant influence.
Cristian’s support for Fernanda significantly complicated matters.
Resentment towards Fernanda bubbled up within Robert. Had he known about their relationship sooner, he would have rejected Fulton’s proposal outright.
In Robert’s eyes, Fulton paled in comparison to Cristian.
Footsteps resounded from the staircase as Erika made her way down.
She had been absent from school recently. Her schoolmates had warned her about the paparazzi lurking at her school, eager to glean more information, prompting her to stay home to escape the media glare.
Michelle had assured her that Fernanda was returning to settle matters, and that the issue would soon be resolved. Erika felt a sense of relief upon hearing this.
She had been quietly listening at the door for quite some time, surprised not to hear any raised voices. It seemed odd. How was it that her father was speaking so peacefully with Fernanda?
That was why she couldn’t resist coming down to see for herself.
Yet, upon seeing who was present, she stopped short in shock.
Hold on! What was going on? Why was he here?

Cristian was lounging on the sofa, casually draping an arm over the back, nearly touching Fernanda’s shoulder. His other hand nonchalantly toyed with her fingers, projecting an aura of easy assurance.
Cristian’s attire was informal; his tie was absent, and the top buttons of his shirt were open, lending him a look of relaxed defiance. The overhead crystal chandelier cast a light that accentuated his pronounced features.
Erika found herself momentarily breathless, her pulse quickening.
“Actually, my presence isn’t about the current scandal,” Fernanda said, her voice steady yet assertive. “This is merely the surface issue. I’m more concerned about my mother’s matters.”
A twitch crossed Robert’s lips. “Her passing was unfortunate, a mere result of her illness.”
“Why did you cheat on her?” Fernanda’s gaze was piercing as she continued. “You were well aware of how deeply my mother loved you. She severed her family ties for your sake. And in return? She received nothing but your deceit. Accustomed to a pampered life, she had never faced denial. Thus, despite her family’s disapproval, she defended your relationship, endowed you with her wealth, estranged herself from her relatives, and followed you here, to this foreign land, only to be met with betrayal. You exploited her inability to have children as an excuse to pull away from her. You had children with your mistress and allowed her to taunt my mother, which drove her to the edge. Her family continues to hold her in disdain. She paid dearly for her errors. But what about your accountability?”
