Chapter 987
Chapter 987:
Fernanda had no intention of continuing any form of interaction with the man. Her plan was to head up to the fourth floor with Curran to see if there were any paintings worth adding to his collection.
However, the man took a step toward her, his tone insolent as he said, “Miss, you seem so sure of yourself when you critique others. Surely, that means you’re a painter of remarkable skill, right? There are supplies over there—paints and brushes. Why don’t you demonstrate your talents and teach me a thing or two?”
Fernanda had encountered plenty of peculiar people before, but meeting someone this obnoxious in a setting like this was almost unprecedented.
Curran gave her arm a reassuring pat before facing the man. “Young man, the lady didn’t respond to you earlier for a reason. We were in the middle of a private conversation, and yet, you felt the need to interject. Tell me—are you trying to start something?”
The man didn’t seem the least bit intimidated by Curran’s authoritative demeanor. He smirked, defiant. “Sir, this is a public venue. If your conversation is loud enough for others to hear, then anyone has the right to comment. And the young lady here wasn’t just chatting—she was critiquing Rose’s work, even daring to highlight its flaws. Naturally, I want to challenge remarks like those.”
His gaze shifted back to Fernanda. “For her to speak with such confidence, I assume her skills as a painter must be extraordinary—perhaps even greater than Rose’s?”
Although the man’s words earlier carried a semblance of reasoning, this latest jab was clearly meant to provoke.
Some of the surrounding onlookers began murmuring among themselves, sensing the man’s behavior was unnecessarily antagonistic.
All Fernanda had done was voice her opinion—it wasn’t a big deal. For him to keep pressing the matter like this was both petty and unseemly. Then, it hit Fernanda. Could it be that this man was a fan of Rose, her alias in the art world?
Could his fixation on her critique stem from the fact that she had dared to criticize a piece by his idol?

A helpless smile tugged at her lips as she dismissed the thought, turning her attention back to him. “Alright, let’s say I misspoke earlier. What exactly do I need to do to put an end to this, sir?”
The man puffed out his chest, clearly reveling in what he saw as her surrender. “I’m not asking for much. Just make sure to choose your words more carefully in the future. Don’t speak on subjects you don’t fully understand, and don’t criticize people whose accomplishments far surpass your own.
Especially Rose. He’s an enigma, but his brilliance is undeniable.
Everything he paints has a purpose, even if you can’t see it. For someone like you to make careless remarks is nothing short of disrespectful. I trust you’ll keep that in mind moving forward.”
