Marin Payton had arrived in Orenth. Putting all her work on hold, Penelope personally drove to the airport to pick her up, with Timothy Anderson behind the wheel.

On the way, Timothy eagerly educated Penelope on just how authoritative Marin was in the Al field. He rattled off her influential papers and personal patents, declaring her an absolute legend among Al developers.

"And she achieved all this at such a young age. She's a total genius!"

Timothy practically buzzed with excitement the whole ride, even more thrilled than Penelope.

Penelope nodded. "Young and gorgeous."

"She's my idol."

"Oh? Do you have a crush on her?"

"Of course. But honestly, it's more like pure reverence."

Penelope chuckled and shook her head. "Then you're a lucky guy. You'll get to work alongside your idol."

"Sis, I will owe you for the rest of my life for this."

When they finally greeted Marin, Penelope was taken aback. Compared to a month ago, Marin had lost a shocking amount of weight. Her face was gaunt, and she looked completely drained, as if the very life had been sucked out of her.

Penelope frowned. "Did Ellison give you a hard time?" It was the most logical conclusion.

Marin hugged her. "A lot has happened this past month. I'm just so tired."

"I've got a place set up for you. Let's get you settled first."

Timothy hurried to grab Marin's luggage, his eyes filled with concern.

Marin offered him a weak smile. "Mr. Anderson, it's been a while. Don't worry about me. I just need to rest."

The apartment Penelope arranged was directly across the hall from Timothy's, exactly as he had recommended.

After getting her settled in, Penelope chatted with her briefly, but seeing her exhaustion, urged her to sleep.

"Take the week off before you officially start. If you need anything, just ask Timothy. I've already tasked him with helping you, and he is more than happy to do it."

Leaning in close, Penelope whispered, "My brother is a massive fan of yours."

Marin smiled. "Thank you, and please thank Timothy for me. I really do need a good sleep."

Penelope instructed Timothy to take the afternoon off from the office and buy whatever Marin might need for the apartment. Timothy patted his chest promising to make Marin feek right at home with five-star

riment.

Seeing how eager he was, Penelope had to reel him in. "Marin is exhausted. Buy

the groceries, but don't bother her."

"I know, I know. I have boundaries."

Leaving Timothy to his mission, Penelope headed back to her company.

Her assistant, Harold, followed her into her office. "Ellison Jeffries, the CEO of Nexthrust is wanted by the police for attempted murder. The authorities in Bridgemere haven't tracked him down yet."

Penelope gasped in shock.

"Attempted murder? Who did he try to kill?"

"After Marin left Nexthrust, the shareholders.revolted. The R&D department entirely shut down. A robotic vacuum they were about to launch had massive glitches that the company couldn't fix. They ran out of funds, and the banks came collecting." Harold shook his head in disbelief. "It turns out Nexthrust's success all these years wasn't because of Ellison; it was entirely Marin. She was the backbone of that company. When it collapsed, Ellison begged her to call off the divorce and come back. When she refused, he actually tried to run her over with his car as she walked away."
