Judie was shocked. She couldn’t understand how Leilani could be so calm.

“A car accident! Leilani, how can you act like it’s nothing? And your reaction speed… if you had actually been hit squarely, it wouldn’t be just these little scratches.”

Libby also felt fear on Leilani’s behalf. “Judie is right. Ms. Sloan, you’re too careless. A car accident is a big deal. You should get an X-ray or a scan just in case.”

“Exactly!”Judie was indignant. “If my mom and hadn’t forced you to come to the hospital, were you just planning to go home and slap a bandage on it?”

Leilani didn’t speak. That was precisely what she had planned.

“People these days are unbelievable. Did they buy their driver’s licenses? How do they drive? They have no sense of responsibility for others’ safety or their own.”

Judie’s mouth was like a machine gun, firing off complaints non-stop.

Listening to them lecture Leilani, the doctor suggested that Leilani should indeed get an X-ray to ensure there was no internal damage or bone issues.

Leilani didn’t want to. She was a doctor; she knew her own body and didn’t feel it was necessary to waste time on scans. But the moment she voiced this, she was met with intense glares from all three of them. Facing their collective accusation, she chose silence. The more she said, the more trouble she’d be in.

Fine, she’d get the scan.

The hospital’s imaging equipment was advanced. The results came out quickly. Fortunately, Leilani really only had external injuries; her internal organs and bones were

fine.

The doctor asked the nurse to bring in the medication to dress Leilani’s wounds. Judie stood by watching the whole time, occasionally asking the doctor, “Will it scar?” or “Do we need anti-scar cream?” making the doctor laugh and cry at the same time.

“It’s really just a superficial abrasion. It won’t scar,” the doctor explained helplessly.

Judie finally sighed in relief and turned to Leilani. “Leilani, you have to be careful in the future! It’s lucky nothing major happened today…”

Before she could finish, her eyes reddened.

Leilani felt warm inside, knowing Judie cared about her. She patted Judie’s hand gently. “Don’t worry, I’m fine.”

Libby stood by, watching the two of them with a gentle gaze, and spoke up at the right moment. “Ms. Sloan, once the wounds are dressed, I’ll have the driver take you home.”

Leilani nodded in thanks. “I appreciate it.”

Although letting Judie and her mother take her to the hospital and wait with her was already asking a lot, there was no way Judie would let her go home alone in her condition. Leilani could only accept the favor completely. She would have to find a chance to properly thank them and make it up to them later.

On the drive back, Judie asked enthusiastically “Leilani, where do you live? I’ll have the driver drop you right at the door.”

“Celestial Heights.”

“Celestial Heights?” Judie’s eyes lit up, and she clapped her hands excitedly. “What a coincidence! My cousin lives there too!”

Leilani raised an eyebrow. “Your cousin?”

“Yeah!” Judie leaned in with a grin. “He’s a super workaholic and usually cold as ice, but he’s actually pretty decent!”

Leilani smiled slightly but didn’t pry into who Judie’s cousin was. Judie ignored what Leilani might be thinking and started planning on her own. “I should move into Celestial Heights for a while too! Then I could hang out with you every day!”
