Leilani fell silent for a moment before offering a faint smile. “It’s a long story.”

She didn’t want to discuss the Sloan family too much, but considering she would be working with Mr. Dillon long-term, she decided to explain briefly to prevent the Sloans from causing trouble later.

“I was switched at birth and grew up in the countryside. The Sloan family didn’t identify me and bring me back until I was seventeen.” Her tone was placid, as if narrating someone else’s life. “Not long after I returned, they framed me and sent me to prison.”

Floyd’s eyes widened in shock. “What?”

Leilani ignored his astonishment and continued. “I spent four years inside. When I got out, they despised me for having no degree and a criminal record, so I cut ties with them. Strictly speaking, he isn’t really my brother anymore.”

Leilani glossed over the years of suffering in a few sentences-omitting Tamara’s schemes, the cold indifference of the Sloan family, and the hardships she endured in prison.

Even so, hearing this made Floyd’s face darken instantly.

“Absurd!” He slammed his hand on the table, causing water to splash from his cup. “Is there something wrong with your family’s brains? You’re so intelligent and capable, yet they…”

Even a tiger doesn’t eat its own cubs. To disregard their own daughter over a degree and a record? It seemed these parents were terrible human beings.

Floyd’s beard trembled with rage. He couldn’t find the right words to describe the stupidity of the Sloan family.

Leilani smiled but didn’t reply.

Floyd took a deep breath, barely suppressing his anger, and shook his head with a sigh. “No wonder that arrogance on your brother was impossible to hide. He was spoiled by the family.”

h Zeus had tried to maintain a humble and respectful facade when he entered, Floyd was an e had lived a long time, experienced much, and seen all kinds of people. He could see right

Zeus.

wyd paused, then sighed again. “Actually, your brother’s medical foundation is decent, and his Knowledge is solid. It’s a pity… His character is too flawed. He’s probably been ruined by that family

environment.”

Leilani didn’t comment. Zeus did have ability. However, character determines destiny. Although he had reached the position of attending physician at a young age, he wouldn’t have made it there without the Sloan family’s background. That was his ceiling.

But none of that mattered to her anymore.

“Mr. Dillon, my business with the Sloan family is in the past.” She spoke indifferently. “I have no relationship with them now. I don’t care how they judge me.”

Floyd looked at her calm expression, feeling a mix of admiration and heartache. This young lady had

been through so much yet maintained such a strong mentality. It was rare.

He nodded, asking no further questions, and simply patted her shoulder. “Alright, let’s not mention the past! Let’s get back to discussing Mr. Chilton’s treatment plan!”

Leilani smiled slightly. “Okay.”

Both Floyd and Leilani were mentally resilient people; this minor interlude couldn’t affect them. The two quickly entered a working state.

Floyd stared at the new plan Leilani wrote down, his eyes widening further and further until he couldn’t help but slam the table in approval. “Ingenious!”
