Leilani set down her water glass and walked silently to the entryway, looking out through the digital peephole.

On the screen, she saw a man wearing a black baseball cap and a mask.

The man stood right outside Leilani’s door. The brim of his hat was pulled low, disguising him so well that only a small section of his pale chin was visible. He kept his head down while frantically pressing the doorbell.
