Chapter 87

Leilani’s eyes widened, and she whipped her head around. Four or five men in black charged out from different directions, guns pointed straight at Callahan!

“Mr. Langley! Look out!”

His bodyguards quickly surrounded him, but the attackers were clearly prepared. Bullets sprayed, instantly taking down two bodyguards!

Callahan reacted swiftly, dodging behind a pillar, but the enemy’s firepower was too intense for him to draw his weapon and return fire!

Leilani stood frozen for a split second. The men in black were obviously targeting Callahan. Images of him shielding her from the Sloan family’s harassment flashed through her mind. Though she never said it, she remembered the debt.

In a flash, an assassin circled to Callahan’s blind spot, raising his gun to aim at the back of

his head!

Leilani’s eyes narrowed, her fingers flipped, and three silver needles glinted in the light!

“Whoosh!”

The needles cut through the air, precisely piercing the assassin’s wrist!

“Argh!” The assassin cried out in pain.

The bullet went wide, grazing Callahan’s shoulder. Blood instantly soaked his trench coat!

Callahan grunted but keenly sensed something was wrong and whipped his head around. He saw a slender figure approaching rapidly, grabbing his wrist and shouting in a low voice,

“Go!”

Before he could see her face clearly, she dragged him into the nearest emergency exit! Gunshots erupted behind them again, but Leilani moved extremely fast, shaking off the pursuers with a few turns and ducking into an unmanned janitor’s closet. She locked the door behind her and turned to check his injury.

“It’s just a graze, not serious.”

Seeing it was superficial, Leilani let out a sigh of relief. Maintaining her composure, she pulled some hemostatic powder and bandages from her bag.

Callahan leaned against the wall, breathing slightly fast, his gaze locked tightly on her face. Leilani’s gaze was frosty, her features sharp and elegant, like an ice queen. One couldn’t see any panic from having just saved him from gunpoint.

“Is it you?” Callahan’s voice was deep, carrying a hint of inquiry.

Leilani didn’t stop tending to his wound, merely glancing up at him. “What?”

Callahan stared at her and suddenly smiled. “Those needles just now… you threw them?”

Leilani didn’t answer, taking it as a default admission.

His eyes darkened. “Your technique is professional. Not like an ordinary person. Where did you learn it?”

“You’re not exactly ordinary either,” she retorted calmly, avoiding his question. “To have so many assassins act against you in an airport.”

Callahan chuckled low but didn’t continue the topic. Instead, he asked abruptly, “How are you so skilled at bandaging wounds? Do you know medicine?”

Leilani’s hand wrapping the bandage paused slightly. Before she could invent a reason, rushing footsteps suddenly echoed outside the storage room!

Both went on alert instantly. Leilani’s eyes sharpened, she shoved Callahan behind her, silver needles ready at her fingertips.

The footsteps grew closer, accompanied by violent door shoving and shouting. “Search! Don’t miss a single corner!”

Leilani and Callahan exchanged a look, instantly reaching a tacit understanding. She grabbed his wrist, dodging into the nearest stall and locking it from the inside.

The space was cramped; they were pressed almost tightly together. Callahan’s back was against the wall, and Leilani was half-encircled in his arms, their breath mingling.

Outside, the thugs approached, violently kicking open the door next to them. “Where are they?”

Leilani’s eyes turned cold, the needles in her hand ready to strike.
