After the injection, Aubrey fell into a coma for a full day and night. The already tight timeline now had only thirty–nine hours left…
“What do we do? The intense pain caused shock. Ms. Mary just won’t wake up…”
“But we can’t use any more painkillers…”
“The good news is, the virus inside Ms. Mary’s body has been completely cleared.”
Hearing this, Alpha Henry rubbed his temples, exhausted.
He had also been busy outside for a full day. After temporarily handling matters, he had rushed back immediately, not even daring to close his eyes for a moment. But upon arriving, he learned that Aubrey was in a coma. He had already stood watch for ten hours without sleep, but she showed no sign of waking.
“Everyone, continue the experiment. Find a way to resolve the hidden dangers! We are all people with real skills and knowledge; we can’t put all the pressure on a young girl!”
Ginnie spoke with a grave expression, left Xavier to watch over the lab, and then led the others to continue their research.
Alpha Henry asked Xavier, “Is there any way to wake her up?”
Alpha Henry couldn’t imagine how painful it must have been to make her fall directly into shock, nearly dying. He only knew he couldn’t stand watching her in a coma any longer. It made him feel as if she could die at any moment. That fear was as bottomless as an abyss…
Xavier shook his head. “We’ve done everything we can. Now, we can only rely on her.”
Alpha Henry’s brows knitted immediately. He hated this kind of ambiguous answer. Is there really no way? He can only wait?!

After Xavier left, Alpha Henry began to rack his brains, recalling the past, attempting to use
memories to call her back.
He had originally felt they didn’t have much of a past, but upon careful reflection, he realized there were memories of him and Aubrey everywhere.
He held Aubrey’s hand, calling her name softly.

He paused. “You’ve been asleep for a long time. It’s time to wake up. Are you hungry? I’ve prepared a lot of food you like… If you don’t want to eat what others made, how about I cook for you personally? Do you remember? When I was unwell as a child, you always cooked for me personally. Do you remember?”
Aubrey remained in her coma, unresponsive. Alpha Henry’s guilt and remorse deepened.
The more he remembered, the more clearly he realized just how awful he had been to Aubrey in the past.
Especially ever since he misunderstood that Yue Mengru was the one who saved him, while Aubrey had supposedly stood by and watched him die. He had been exceptionally cold to her after that.
Yet, Aubrey had remained as good to him as ever-

When she found out he was hospitalized after being injured fighting rogues, she would silently stay by his side and cry, even though he never gave her a kind look.
When he was away on missions, she would wait with medicine at the crossroads he had to pass to return to Shadowmoon Pack, even though he never once responded to her calls…
Alpha Henry tightened his grip on Aubrey’s hand, his eyes filled with heartache and apology.
“Aubrey… I know now. I was always so bad to you, but you were always so tolerant. I hurt you, intentionally or not, so many times. Every time I think of it now, I just want to punch myself…”
He had misunderstood her and treated her horribly, yet Aubrey had this relentless determination, as if she wouldn’t give up until she hit a wall. She just had to be near him. Perhaps this is true love…
His heart felt both sweet and sour. He carefully traced the palm of her hand with his finger. “Forgive me, okay? I was so volatile and cruel. My mom was right. You gave me the best of everything long ago. Compared to you, my feelings for you seem childish and laughable. No wonder you never agreed to be with me before. It was because I didn’t do well. Not well at all.”
He lifted Aubrey’s hand to his lips, his voice barely audible. “But I’ll work hard to learn. Our future… I definitely won’t let you down…”
He leaned over, his lips brushing hers in a kiss that was almost a tremble.
