The CEO Who Promised Me the World And Then Asked Me to Pay With My Soul by Caden Blake 478
Alpha Henry was possessive of Aubrey, wanting her love exclusively for himself. As he tenderly cared for her, he asked about a story related to her ancestor, hinting it resembled her. Unexpectedly, Aubrey spoke for the first time, surprising Henry as she slowly opened her eyes despite her throat injury. Overjoyed at her awakening, Henry quickly summoned Xavier and medical staff to examine and treat her.
The doctors confirmed Aubrey was stable and could be discharged once her neck wound healed. Henry remained intensely focused on Aubrey, ignoring the attention of a young nurse nearby. Aubrey, feeling light and happy in the sunlight, smiled warmly back at Henry. He cautiously checked on her condition, worried about her throat and dizziness, and gently warned her not to speak too much.
Playfully, Aubrey whispered that she had expected Henry to kiss her excitedly when she woke. Henry blushed and scolded her teasingly but was clearly affected by her charm. Their tender interaction continued as Henry carefully laid her back on the bed, expressing relief that she was alright. The closeness between them grew, their eyes locked, emotions stirring deeply.
Finally, Henry leaned down and kissed Aubrey softly, though briefly. Unsatisfied, he kissed her again, and this time both shared a joyful laugh. The kiss brought a sweet, warm feeling that spread from their lips to their hearts, deepening the intimate connection between them.

Chapter 478 I Thought You’d Kiss Me
Third–Person POV
He didn’t want Aubrey to love anyone, not even her past self. He wanted her completely, entirely for himself, not sharing even a tiny bit with anyone else!
He nuzzled her lips, taking full advantage, before slowly continuing to comb her hair.
“Tell me, is that story about your ancestor true?” Alpha Henry chuckled. “It sounds a bit like you.”
“…Am I… that stupid?”
Who knew, Aubrey had suddenly spoken!
Alpha Henry was startled. He looked down and saw her slowly opening her eyes. Her throat had a hole, and her voice was still hoarse, but she was awake, and she didn’t look like she had any side effects at all!
Alpha Henry was overjoyed!
“Don’t talk yet. I’ll go get Xavier!”
He ran a few steps, then suddenly remembered—why did he need to go himself? He quickly pressed the call bell to summon Xavier!
The moment he saw her awake, he felt as if he were dreaming. The feeling of unreality made him want to pinch himself!
Xavier arrived quickly, bringing people to examine Aubrey, give her medicine, and ask questions. Alpha Henry stared at them intently, stressing them out.
“Alpha, Ms. Mary is fine. Once the wound on her neck heals, she can be discharged.” Xavier announced with a smile.
Only then did Alpha Henry smile and wave for them to leave. As they left, a young nurse glanced at Alpha Henry intentionally, but his attention was entirely on Aubrey, so he didn’t notice. The nurse had to leave, disappointed.
Aubrey saw this and couldn’t help but smile. Sunlight streamed through the window, making her skin seem almost transparent. The way she smiled, she was as pure and beautiful as an angel.
“Aubrey.”
Alpha Henry sat beside her, looking at her, his attitude as cautious as if she were a porcelain doll.
“How do you feel? Is your head still dizzy? Does your throat hurt?”
After asking, he immediately covered her mouth, saying nervously, “You’d better not talk. Your throat was cut open, it’s not healed!”
Aubrey’s eyes crinkled, full of amusement. She pulled his hand away from her mouth, leaned in, and
whispered in his car, using only her breath.
“I thought… when you saw me wake up… you’d be so excited you’d kiss me…”
At that moment, Alpha Henry’s ear felt like it was on fire!
He straightened her up and gave her a “fierce” glare, but his heart was racing.
“Causing trouble when you’re not even healed? Just wait until you’re better, see how I’ll deal with you!”
Aubrey laughed silently, looking at him like a little squirrel that had stolen something. It made Alpha Henry unable to be stern, leaving him feeling helpless.
He sighed, got up, and pressed her down, making her lie back on the bed. Only then did he look into her bright eyes and say softly, “Thank god you’re okay.”
Just that one sentence, and Alpha Henry’s eyes reddened slightly.
Aubrey was also stunned. Looking at Alpha Henry like this, she also felt a bit emotional.
They were only a few centimeters apart. He looked into her eyes, she looked into his. Both seemed to feel something stirring.
“Just… one!”
The Alpha finished speaking, lowered his head, and covered her lips! Aubrey’s eyes were wide. She saw him lift his head after less than a second. He was clearly unsatisfied with that speed, so he said, “Mn, one more.”
And then he kissed her again.
This time, both he and Aubrey looked at each other and laughed. A sweet taste spread from their lips to their hearts, then swept through their entire bodies.
The chapter beautifully captures the tender vulnerability between Alpha Henry and Aubrey, revealing the depths of their care and affection amidst the lingering pain and uncertainty.
