Chapter 14:

Before Ashton had a chance to react to Samuel’s abrupt command, Rosalie expressed her displeasure.

“Dr. Malone, what are you implying? Dr. Baldwin has been treating my sister effectively. Why are you insisting he leave?”

Samuel glanced at Ashton and responded with a dismissive tone, “Miss Campbell, you’re relatively inexperienced. Don’t be deceived by his superficial tactics. He merely stumbled upon a miraculous pill and sought to curry favor with you by using it.”

He paused for emphasis before adding, “Moreover, while the patient’s condition has stabilized for now, additional surgery is essential to prevent deterioration. With Mr. Howard now present, it is only fitting that he conducts the surgery to guarantee the patient’s safety.”

The emergency room’s medical team nodded in agreement.

Samuel was recognized as a top physician at the hospital, and Garrett was regarded as a medical expert. Although the newcomer had dramatically reversed the patient’s critical condition, his success was largely attributed to the extraordinary medication.

Garrett had just shaken off his initial surprise. Upon listening to Samuel’s assertions, he slightly furrowed his brow.

He looked at Samuel with intention and began to speak slowly. “The patient’s condition is indeed stable now and ready for further treatment.”

However, before he could complete his statement, Samuel cut in, saying to Ashton, “Did you hear that? Mr. Howard concurs with my assessment. Therefore, cease your interference, remove those needles, and clear the way for Mr. Howard to undertake the surgery. As a senior doctor at this hospital, my role is to support Mr. Howard. There’s no justification for your continued presence here!”

Samuel gave Ashton a look filled with smug satisfaction.

However, Garrett’s annoyance with Samuel was intensifying.

Samuel seemed oblivious to the caliber of the man he was challenging. Ashton’s medical expertise far surpassed anything Samuel could comprehend.

Furthermore, Samuel’s blatant attempt to manipulate him into undermining Ashton was both obvious and exasperating.

Therefore, Garrett responded with firm authority, “Samuel, you are overstepping your bounds! Mr. Baldwin’s intervention has been pivotal for the patient’s survival.”

“Without his efforts, the patient would likely not be alive. It is inappropriate for you to speak so dismissively of his contributions.”

Samuel was taken aback by Garrett’s direct rebuke, which felt like a public humiliation, causing his face to flush with embarrassment.

The surrounding nurses’ whispers seemed to echo with derision.

In a desperate attempt to regain control, Samuel argued, “But Mr. Howard, the efficacy of the Longevity Pill was the key factor, not this man’s actions. Moreover, you yourself mentioned the necessity of surgery, and you will require an assistant, right?”

Garrett scoffed, his voice dropping to an even colder tone. “While I intend to be involved in the surgical procedure, I do not require your assistance. Please exercise some self-awareness and refrain from creating further disruptions!”
