Chapter 150
Chapter 150:
Now that Ashton was aware they were plotting against him, he decided to play along with their game.
After ending the call with Wade, Ashton immediately contacted the person responsible for organizing the gala and confirmed his role as the piano accompanist for the choir.
Once everything was set, Ashton patiently waited for Phillip and Tristan to fall into his trap.
It did not take long for Tristan to learn about the performance details.
Ashton had arranged the rehearsal in a spacious classroom to accommodate the large choir.
This was a deliberate choice by Ashton, ensuring that Tristan and Phillip would have the chance to observe their rehearsal. Sure enough, on Phillip’s orders, Tristan sneaked in through the back door to observe.
Coincidentally, the rehearsal had just started. As Ashton’s fingers moved across the keys, the crisp and enchanting sound of piano music filled the classroom.
The students in the choir seemed to be influenced by the emotions conveyed through the music, completing the rehearsal in perfect harmony. The rehearsal stunned Tristan.
Despite his dislike for Ashton, he could not find any faults in the performance.
Even so, Ashton was not content. He provided further guidance, and the second rehearsal commenced.
The more Tristan listened, the more astonished he became. Under Ashton’s direction, the performance was becoming flawless.
By the end of it, Tristan, despite his limited understanding of music, was certain that if Ashton performed on stage, his reputation would soar to new heights.
Thus, regardless of Phillip’s orders, Tristan resolved that he would never allow Ashton to succeed on stage.

Having made up his mind, Tristan didn’t dare to stay any longer for fear of being discovered.
He intended to make his exit quietly after the second rehearsal, hoping no one would notice.
Unfortunately for Tristan, though he concealed himself behind a chair at the back of the classroom, Ashton, seated at the piano on stage, observed his every movement.
Before Tristan could seize the opportunity to slip away, Ashton had already approached him from behind.
Tristan sensed a sudden draft behind him, sending a chill down his spine.
When he turned around, he found Ashton standing there, smiling at him. A surge of fear gripped Tristan.
Ashton’s voice was cold, almost mocking, as he asked, “Why are you creeping around back here? Plotting something new against me, perhaps?”
Tristan’s panic spiked at Ashton’s direct accusation, but he forced a nervous smile, trying to cover his fear.
“Mr. Baldwin, you’re reading too much into this. I’ve realized I made mistakes in the past, and I just wanted a chance to make amends, that’s all!”
Ashton let out a derisive laugh. “Do you think you can just erase what you did with a few words? I don’t need anything from you.”
The commotion caught the attention of a few students resting in the front row. They quickly gathered around, their expressions hardening as they recognized Tristan.
They confronted him with contempt, one of them saying, “Isn’t this Tristan? We all remember how you treated Mr. Baldwin. Have you suddenly forgotten your own actions?”
Another student’s voice dripped with sarcasm. “What? Now that Mr. Baldwin’s getting recognition, you’re trying to cozy up to him, huh? Doesn’t that make you feel ashamed?”
Tristan overheard the mocking jeers of the other students directed at him.
Tristan, typically impervious to criticism, now felt his face flush with deep embarrassment.
Without offering any explanation, he hastily fled, his exit marked by palpable disgrace.
Ashton observed Tristan’s retreating figure with a faint, knowing smile.
It was as if a hunter watched his prey unwittingly spring the trap he had meticulously set.
