Chapter 191
Chapter 191:
A woman of middle age, standing behind Steven, raised her phone high to capture the confrontation, recording every moment.
With a firm tone, the woman declared, “We are documenting everything. Should you mistreat us, we will ensure that you are exposed in the media!”
Others in the group voiced their agreement, mirroring her sentiments.
Ashton cast them a frosty glance before guiding the project manager and Rosalie toward the office on the construction site to seek a resolution.
Yet, Ashton’s suspicion grew with their overtly dramatic responses.
Upon entering the office, Ashton inquired, “How have you been managing the project? Has the safety inspector conducted a thorough check for hazards?”
Rosalie exhaled deeply, responding, “We are not novices. We prioritize safety and only start the construction after receiving third-party approval for the preventive measures. Logically, even if accidents were to occur, their severity should not be so extreme. Multiple injuries happening simultaneously are unprecedented!”
Ashton then directed his question to the project manager. “Were you present during the incident? What exactly transpired?”
The manager replied with a shake of his head. “The project was still in the initial excavation phase. Injuries to experienced workers should not have occurred. I did not anticipate this. I heard screams and discovered them in the pit.”
A faint smile touched Ashton’s lips. “I share your concern. The occurrence of several leg injuries at the project’s outset does not make sense.”
He continued, “I suspect that these injuries are fabricated, potentially orchestrated by someone with the intention of sabotaging our progress.”
Rosalie, rubbing her temples, asked, “I had the same suspicion. But how can we expose their deceit?”

Ashton took a moment to think before a smile spread across his face.
“Perhaps we can employ a bluff?”
He outlined his plan in a hushed tone. “I will take charge. You two should follow my lead, pretending to be alarmed, and then make a dramatic exit.”
Rosalie and the project manager exchanged uncertain glances but ultimately nodded in agreement. Ashton prepared meticulously inside the office. When the door swung open, Steven and his group turned their attention, eager for a resolution.
Instead, they witnessed Ashton and his companions racing out, appearing panicked.
Ashton’s voice rang out, “It’s perilous inside! We need to evacuate immediately!”
Leading the charge, Ashton sprinted out, with Rosalie and the project manager close behind.
Before Steven and the others could comprehend the situation, thick white smoke began billowing from the office, accompanied by muffled explosions.
Unbeknownst to them, Ashton had mixed construction materials to create a harmless but convincing effect.
The sight of Ashton, Rosalie, and the project manager fleeing incited widespread panic among Steven and the others.
