Chapter 197
Chapter 197:
Bobby waved his hand dismissively. “You don’t need a reason to visit an old man like me. Feel free to come by and chat whenever you find the time.”
Ashton nodded in agreement, his expression turning grave. “By the way, have you heard about Sup Group?”
Bobby’s smile disappeared. “Sup Group? Of course, they’re a major player in Staville. Their expansion into Inewood is common knowledge. What about them?”
Ashton harbored suspicions that Sup Group was connected to Fraser’s financial supporters and possibly had ulterior motives for their abrupt expansion. Without concrete proof and preferring not to disclose Fraser’s involvement, Ashton offered a cautious explanation.
“Well, to tell you the truth, I indeed have some ties with Skyline Group. It seems like Sup Group is targeting us. I think they might leverage Inewood’s influential families to…”
Weaken our group’s position. I can’t pin down their exact intentions yet, but I’m sure they’re up to no good. Anyone involved with their projects could stand to lose big. It’s safer to steer clear.”
Bobby paused, taken aback, and then laughed. “So, you’re with Skyline Group! I always knew I had a knack for judging character. You’re definitely not just anybody!”
Ashton scratched his head, joining in the laughter. “Thanks, Bobby. Yeah, I got involved with them after I moved on.”
He mixed truth with fiction in his reply. Revealing himself as the chairman of Skyline Group might lead to doubts.
Bobby didn’t linger on the thought, simply offering a smile. “I find the actions of Sup Group quite odd. I trust your judgment. We’ll steer clear of their collaboration.” He then sighed. “I always knew you were outstanding. Sadly, my granddaughter was too arrogant and ruined it all. Now, they’re still hoping to mend fences. I’m not sure that’s possible, is it?”
Ashton met Bobby’s gaze but said nothing.

In that silence, Bobby found his answer.
With a heavy sigh, though clearly disheartened, he didn’t push the matter. After a moment, he mustered a smile. “Well, Emalee brought this on herself. She has to live with the consequences. No matter your relationship with her, you’re always welcome here.”
Ashton offered a smile in return and continued to talk with Bobby a bit longer before making his exit.
As he watched Ashton leave, Bobby sighed, reflecting on his age. If only he were younger and full of vigor, he would embark on ventures alongside Ashton.
At the same time, he sensed an unsettling premonition. Inewood would likely face turbulent times ahead.
Following the announcement by Sup Group, Inewood’s business landscape was thrown into disarray, as many had anticipated.
Families who had been unsuccessful in the previous bidding event gravitated toward the cooperative projects initiated by Sup Group.
