Chapter 20
Chapter 20:
Seeing Phillip’s arrogance, the security guards exchanged glances.
Phillip caught their look and snapped, “Why are you standing there like fools? Do you want me to report you for siding with outsiders who harass the members?”
Feeling threatened, the security guards hesitated, then relented.
The head security guard then said firmly to Ashton and Rosalie, “If you have no other business here, I must ask you to leave the premises, or we will have to force you out.”
Ashton realized the security guards were under pressure and chose not to escalate the situation.
He turned to Rosalie and suggested, “Rosalie, please show them your membership card to confirm we’re here to dine.”
To his surprise, Rosalie blinked, a picture of innocence. “I don’t actually have a membership card,” she confessed sheepishly. After all, why would she need one in her own family’s restaurant?
Before she could share this with Ashton, Phillip burst into mocking laughter. “See? What did I tell you? They’re impostors! A lie remains a lie, no matter how you dress it.”
Emboldened, the security guards closed in on Ashton and Rosalie.
Phillip, reveling in his perceived victory, gloated over Ashton’s embarrassment. His voice dripped with disdain. “Make sure these frauds learn their lesson. We can’t let them undermine the credibility of Modern Restaurant!”
Ashton was left wondering if Rosalie was truly unaware of the restaurant’s rules, but sensing trouble looming, he instinctively pulled her behind him.
“Stay close and don’t run. As long as I’m here, you’re safe!” Ashton whispered reassuringly.
Rosalie felt a surge of warmth, yet her eyes narrowed with resolve. She scrutinized the encircling security guards and demanded coldly, “I don’t recognize any of you. Are you new here? Get your manager. I need to talk with him immediately.”

Phillip found the situation utterly amusing.
He scoffed, “Still putting on a brave face? Who do you think you are, summoning the restaurant manager on a whim? What do you expect to achieve? Do you really think the manager cares about a couple of people like you?”
What Phillip hadn’t anticipated was the commotion outside the restaurant catching the manager’s attention. A somewhat stout manager emerged, prepared to chastise the source of the disturbance.
However, upon noticing Rosalie encircled by the security team, he paled. The young woman was not just any diner; she was at her family’s own restaurant, now ensnared by the new security guards!
The potential scandal could spell disaster not just for the security guards but for him as well, possibly costing him his job.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, the manager’s fear escalated. He hastened toward the security guards, bellowing, “Have you lost your minds? Stop this at once!”
