Chapter 21
Chapter 21:
Modern Restaurant, renowned as Inewood’s premier private dining venue, required a membership secured by a million-dollar deposit.
Consequently, its membership roster consisted exclusively of the affluent and influential. Even the restaurant’s manager wielded considerable clout.
For Phillip, getting on the manager’s good side was paramount.
Spotting the manager emerging, Phillip quickly closed the distance with a welcoming grin.
“Mr. Hensley, I’m Phillip from the Watson family. Remember, we’ve met previously,” he said, infusing his voice with warmth and friendliness.
However, Barry Hensley was too preoccupied with his concerns to engage with Phillip. Brushing past him, Barry headed straight for Rosalie, shoving aside the security guards who stood in his way.
Taken aback by Barry’s urgency, the security guards hesitated, unsure of how to react.
Barry was relieved to see Rosalie unharmed, protected by Ashton. He took a moment to compose himself. Then, in a sudden display of remorse, he struck himself across the face twice.
“I’ve been negligent in managing my staff and nearly caused a grave error. I’ve come to offer my apologies,” he declared, his voice trembling with distress. Barry was on the verge of kneeling before Rosalie in his turmoil, but a firm look from her halted him mid-action.
Amid the eyes of the onlookers, Rosalie, wanting to avoid any disclosure of her identity that could stir up complications, addressed Barry sternly. “Do I, and does my friend, have the right to dine here? Can we now enter the restaurant?”
Rosalie, with a sharp tone, interrogated the manager, leading Ashton to surmise her ties to the place.

Without pausing, Ashton laid out the whole story for Barry.
Barry, dripping with sweat, listened intently to Ashton and hastily replied to Rosalie as he dabbed at his forehead, “You must be kidding. Our restaurant is always open to you and your friends! It’s truly a privilege to have you here!”
Rosalie, pleased by Barry’s earnest and accommodating demeanor, turned to Ashton and asked, “What’s your plan for those two?”
Ashton gave a dismissive smile and remarked, “It’s a trivial issue. Let the manager deal with it. They’re not worth our time.”
With a wave of his hand, he invited Rosalie to proceed inside.
Rosalie grinned with a twinkle in her eye, and together, they entered Modern Restaurant.
Phillip and Emalee, left behind, were dumbfounded, watching Ashton and Rosalie stroll in effortlessly. They were baffled, considering the restaurant rule that reservations were essential.
Hesitant to confront Barry directly, Phillip inquired politely, “Mr. Hensley, could you explain? Wasn’t there a policy that seats needed to be booked in advance, or none would be available?”
Barry, now fully aware of the situation and devoid of any warmth for Phillip, the instigator, fixed him with a frosty stare and retorted, “If we’re short on seats, perhaps some folks should consider standing, don’t you think?”
Seeing Phillip’s confusion persist, he added sharply, “You are Phillip Watson, aren’t you? I’m letting you know that your reservation for today is canceled, your membership card is invalid, and your membership is revoked!”
Phillip stood there, stunned. He had borrowed the card from his father just to impress.
For a family like theirs, securing a membership at Modern Restaurant was quite challenging.
Phillip’s father typically used it to entertain key business clients and enhance their family’s reputation.
Now, with the membership revoked, Phillip had landed himself in deep trouble!
Barry, having delivered his announcement, showed no interest in elaborating and retreated back into the restaurant.
Taking their cue from Barry, the security guards were equally uncompromising.
They quickly surrounded Phillip and Emalee, escorting them out with clear disdain.
Even though Phillip was slow to understand the gravity of the situation, he now recognized that the woman accompanying Ashton was likely a person of significant wealth and influence.
Otherwise, why would Barry treat her with such deference?
As Phillip contemplated the consequences he would face, he clenched his teeth and directed his anger toward Ashton. He felt a burning jealousy and resentment that Ashton, who had just divorced Emalee, was now with such a wealthy and beautiful woman.
“Damn it, how did Ashton land such luck?”
Phillip cursed under his breath, his expression turning grim.
But then he considered that this affluent woman could not keep Ashton around for long.
“Ashton, just wait. When she gets tired of you, I’ll have my revenge!” he muttered.
